Chapter 3
I made sure I was absolutely perfect before I even thought of leaving the house. I took a shower, shaving my legs and washing my hair twice to make sure it was nice and soft. I straightened my hair, applied a little make-up, and brushed my teeth extra good. I put on my black pencil skirt, a white long-sleeved shirt, and a royal blue infinity scarf. I put on black flats too. When I felt good and ready I stepped out of the house and got in my truck. I drove to the address Ryan gave me. When I got there I couldn’t believe my eyes. Ryan practically lived in a mansion and I wondered how he afforded it because a teacher’s salary was in no way large enough to pay for this house. I parked the car in his drive-way and started for the front door. I rung the door bell and Mr. Peters stepped out in khaki pants and a royal blue polo. I laughed a little at our unplanned matching.
“You look lovely, Danni, and your scarf is perfectly fitting I would say.” And then he laughed and I could have passed out because it was the most beautiful sound. I took Ryan in for a minute just looking at his beauty. He had brown hair that looked so soft, blue eyes the shade of a crystal blue ocean, a strong jaw, and plump lips that looked so kissable, lips that I had kissed in so many dreams. He caught me looking at his lips and my cheeks flushed a deep red.
“Sorry” I apologized.
“Danni don’t be sorry. It’s no different wanting to kiss me now than it was in the dreams because I certainly want to kiss you too.”
“Ryan it is different, you’re my teacher. You can’t just go kissing me whenever or ever for that matter. If you’re seen kissing me you could lose your job. No matter how much I want you to kiss me I have to say…” I got cut off by him crashing his lips on mine and pulling me in the house. “Ryan we can’t do this. I agreed to have coffee and to have you explain what the hell these dreams mean not to make-out with you and risk losing your job.”
“Ok, Ok. I won’t kiss you again unless you ask me too.” He winked at me then led me towards his kitchen. He went to the coffee pot and turned it on. “Ok where do I begin…..? Ahh probably the beginning. Well, Danni, I need you to remember that you know I’m not going to do anything to hurt you, ever. Danni I’m not human…….. I’m a vampire”
“Ha-ha that’s hilarious yah right. Vampires aren’t real.” I stopped laughing when I saw the seriousness on his face. “Wait your serious. Oh my goodness that would explain a lot. The eyes in the dream. Did you create those dreams? Are you the on that saved me from the crash two years ago? How did you get sick if you’re a vampire?”
“Yes I did create the dreams. I didn’t know I was doing it at the time but ever since the crash, which yes I did save you from, I would dream of this beautiful girl in my arms, of course I didn’t get to see your face till the very end of each dream. Oh, and I didn’t get sick, well sort of, you see when a vampire meets their soul mate they get this sickness. It’s our body’s way of telling us we found our missing piece. I got sick the night of the crash too but it wasn’t nearly as bad.” I was dumfounded.
“But that would mean I’m your…” I couldn’t say soul mate. I didn’t even know how to believe this all.
“Soul mate, yes, and I’ve loved you ever since the crash. I know I said I didn’t know if you were real earlier but what I wanted to tell you, and couldn’t tell you until you knew about vampires, was I couldn’t believe I found you; my soul mate.”
“I don’t know what to say, I mean I just learned that vampires are real and that my soul mate is a vampire.” I was severely confused.
“I know it’s a lot to take in. I’m so sorry that you had to learn about me like this. Learning about vampires with your vampire-soul mate-teacher really isn’t the best way.” He gave me this sheepish, oh-so-human look that melted me to my core and whether I was afraid or not I believed him and loved him too.
