The Sphere of Eternity is always changing. One chapter weaves memories that turns into tales that form into legends, and then legends into myths. The myths fade into oblivion by the time the era comes again. this era, called the Eighth by some, an era yet to come, an era long past. But it was about to be a story unlike it had ever written before.
A slight breeze was blowing through the city of which I reside. The breeze gave slight coolness in the summer as I passed the bookshop named "The Pages of Avalon". I was my way to meet up with my girlfriend, Celeste. I looked over at the entrance as I heard an amused laugh come from the bookshop. I personally had never been inside, but I have been wanting to. I just never had the chance between raising my little sister, since our had passed and our father is always gone overseas on business. And when I'm not with her, I'm spending time with Celeste. A few minutes later I met up with Celeste outside a local ma and pa convenience store. She was wearing her favorite red dress.
"Hey Ce," I said giving her a hug. I could smell the lavender in her hair from her shampoo.
"Hey, Axton," she responded, returning the hug, "took ya long enough."
"I know, let's go get some snacks," we released each other and I held the door open for her and an elderly couple before going inside myself. Celeste was in the back grabbing drinks, so I got the snacks.
The two of us walked up to the counter where we put the items on the counter. I had to pay because Celeste was in a dress without pockets and always refused to carry a purse. While the Clerk was ringing up the items, I noticed storm clouds starting to come in
"Didn't the weatherman say that we weren't supposed to have another few weeks?" Celeste asked no one in particular.
"That's what he said, but you can never rely on what they say," The shopkeeper replied, ringing up items, "your total is $19.37"
After I payed, Celeste and I made our way out of the store. As soon as I stepped out of the doorway I ran into a guy.
"Damn," I noticed his glasses on the ground, picking them up and handing them to the guy, "sorry about that, you alright?"
"I seem to be fine," he replied. He used his his index and middle fingers to push up his glasses.
"Good to hear," I was getting a sense of familiarity. "The name's Axton. And this is Celeste." I motioned to Celeste who was behind me.
He accepted my handshake, "My names Cress. Cress Lowenthal. Pleased to meet you." We shook hands, and I noticed that he had soft hands like he didn't do a lot of hard work. Cress then asked, "Have we met before?"
"Dunno. Maybe we go to the same college?" I gave Celeste one of the drinks. She took it and gave me a small smile, as she walked to the side.
"Ahh," he muttered," I sit behind you during Calculus 3"
My sense of familiarity seemed to ding, like a lightbulb going on, "Yeah, I remember you now, Hopefully you never read any of my texts over my shoulder," I chuckled a bit. "Well, I have to get goin' don't want to be caught up in the rain. Nice seeing you again!"
"Yeah, later than"
Celeste and I waved as we left and so did he. I put my arm around Celeste's waist and pulled her close, "So, am I walking you home, or are you crashing with me and Mei?"
She wrapped her arm around mine," I'll be spending the night," She took a drink from her soda.
"If that's what you want." I commented, taking her soda and stealing a drink from it, which earned me a quick jab in the ribs.
We reached my house a few minutes later, we reached my house, and it just started to rain. I picked up the trash can and took it to the side of the road. I ran back and went inside. I heard voices coming from the living room and there I saw Celeste talking with Mei. I went to sit down next to them, and turned on the T.V. We sat there watching a show for about 10 minutes before the phone in the hallway started to ring, and Mei got up to go answer it.
"Hey bro, can you come here?" Mei shouted.
I got up and went to the hallway, where Mei handed me the phone. "Hello? This is Axton Whitewolfe speaking."
"Hello, Mr. Whitewolfe, My name is Lucy Coop, I'm afraid that I have to be the bearer of bad news," She sounded exhausted, like she had said what she was about to many times already tonight," The flight that Mr. Samuel Whitewolfe was on, Flight 278, went down in the Atlantic Ocean. There are no survivors. I'm sorry for your loss."
"Thank you for notifying my family, hope you have a nice night Lucy," I sounded calmer than I felt as I hung up the phone. I felt like crying but it was like I knew that I couldn't. I had to be strong for Mei. I had to be strong for myself. "Mei? Can you come here?"
"Yea Axton?"
"Dad's not coming home, his plane went down over the Atlantic. There are no survivors."
She turned around and before I could stop her she grabbed a jacket and ran out the front door, slamming it behind her.
"Where'd she storm off to?" Celeste asked, coming into the hallway.
"Don't know for sure, but I have a feeling," I responded, grabbing a coat, "If you come, you know the drill. I have to go find her."
Before I had even gotten a block, I heard the rapid pitter patter of someone running twoards me. I looked back and saw Celeste. I stopped and waited for her to catch up.
"You're a dumbass, not taking an umbrella," she said, holding one out, and slightly huffimg for breath. "Now where are we going?"
Taking the umbrella and holding it up, I said " We are going to the cemetery that mine and Mei's mother was buried at, now get under this"
Celeste steped close to me and wrapped her arm around my waist. We quickly walked to the cemetery and even though we walked as fast as we could without running, it still took a few minutes. After we went through I saw Mei sitting next to Mom's gravestone. She was completely unaware of Celeste and me. I walked over to her and sat down next to her. She looked over at me and then buried her face in my chest as Celeste sat down next to me.
We stayed like that for a few minutes until Celeste said "Alright you two. Lets go home and out of this rain." She got up and helped Mei to her feet.
I got up myself and we went to the leave. Near the exit there was an open grave and Mei slipped into it. I looked into the grave and saw an blue light and there was no sign of Mei. Celeste grabbed my hand and the two of us jumped in after. I experienced a falling sensation, and as Celestes hand was ripped away from mine, I hit something hard and was sent into a state of unconsciousness.
