Chapter One

{Kacey's P.O.V.}

"Kacey," Austin whispered as he leaned in. My breath caught in my throat, my whole body froze in place. My heart was pounding in my chesty, eagerly awaiting the sweet touch of Austin's mouth against mine. And when I did finally feel his lips against mine, I knew I was a goner. His kisses made me want- no, need more. This kiss was gentle at first, but then it turned more passionate and hard. My hands tangled in his shaggy brown hair, tugging on it softly. He moaned into my mouth, sending tingles through my body.

"We should do this more often," he chuckled as he ended the kiss. He scooted back and then lifted his legs onto the bench we sat on, spreading them out. Still breathless from the kiss, I rolled my eyes and smiled goofily at him. Austin's brown eyes bore into mine, making me blush.

"You wish," I laughed. Austin took my hand and entwined his fingers with mine. He dropped his feat back onto the floor, and leaned in towards me to whisper something in my ear. His cool breath tickled my skin.

"I do," he whispered seductively. I giggled girlishly before I could stop it. Austin chuckled and leaned back again, resting on the old oak behind him. His eyes raked across my body. From my long black hair, past my bright blue eyes, down my torso, and then finished at my toes. I blushed again, Austin always could get me to blush. Ever since five months ago, when we first started dating.

I was about to say something, but Austin cut me off. "Did you hear that?" he asked in a low voice, his face paling. I looked at the woods that surrounded us. I didn't hear or see anything. I turned back to Austin to tell him this, but then I heard the loud and distant crack of a twig snapping and the crunching on leaves. Like someone was coming, or something.

"W-We should get out of here!" I whispered franticly. Without a word, Austin grabbed my hand and helped me off the log we were sitting on. The leaves crunched under our feet as we speed-walked down the dirt path that leads us out of the woods. I dropped Austin's hand and started to pat his shoulder soothingly. He was starting to relax, but then he froze. His eyes widened with fear, his face turned ghostly pale, and he looked scared out of his skin. I slowly looked forward were Austin was looking.

I screamed.

A man with wild, ragged, brown hair, and bloody red eyes stood in the middle of the path ahead. He was in a weird stance, like he was readying for a fight. His legs were spread apart, his feet digging into the earth. His arms were spread out, too, his palms open. His nails were sharp, and grossly long. But the creepiest, and scariest thing wasn't any of those. It was the fact that there was blood smeared on his face and hands. And that he was licking his lips, almost like he was hungry. For us.

"It's not smart to be in the woods at this time of day," he sneered, he slowly started walking towards Austin and I. I nodded, not trusting my voice. This couldn't be a human, his looks said that. From his blood colored eyes, to his blood stained body. Bloody didn't necessarily mean he wasn't human, but the amount that covered his body gave you doubts. And then there was the voice in my head. The one that was screaming at me to run away from him; that he's dangerous.

"You shouldn't of come, now you will pay for your mistake," he hissed, and with inhuman speed ran to Austin. Austin didn't have time to react before the wild man attacked him. Austin screamed and started thrashing under the wild man as the fell to the ground.

"Austin!" I screamed, my voice was hoarse as I sobbed. Austin's usually tan and clear face was now pale and was smeared with his blood. Without thinking, I jumped onto Austin's attacker, but he pushed me back with so much force that I could feel the bone of my right arm snap. Loud, disturbing, sucking sounds came from Austin and the man. Through my tear filled eyes, Austin's eyes again bore into mine.

"Get... g-get out of h-here!" Austin gasped out, his voice dry and lifeless. I couldn't leave him here to die! I had to stay here, and help. I tried going at the man again, but he was too quick. With another powerful push, I flew backwards but quickly get back to my feat. My whole body shook from what I saw when I tried attacking the man. I had the clear look of him sucking Austin's neck, as if he were draining the life out of him. Maybe he was.

No.

I quickly looked at Austin again. His eyes weren't focused, and his skin was paper white. He stopped fighting against the man, and completely gave up. He laid on the cold ground, still as a stone. The tears fell like waterfalls down my cold bitten cheeks. My eyes widened as I faintly saw the man, maybe even monster, get up off of Austin's limp body. He wiped his face with his coat sleeve., his eyes were more red then before.

"Your next," he announced, walking towards me with an evil and bloody grin. A grin that made my hairs on the back of my neck stand up, and made goosebumps on my skin. He almost looked drunk if you look closely.

"W-Who are you? And w-what did you do to my b-boyfriend?" I stuttered, backing away from him cautiously. But clumsily tripped over a small rock and fell into a wet pile of leaves. I ignored the burning feeling in my ankle. The wild man smiled widely, displaying two rows of yellow, chipped, and crooked teeth.

"Oh me? My name, little girl, is Robert," he narrowed his eyes.

Then everything happened too fast. The wild man, Robert, sprung at me and pinned me against a tree. I gasped as sticks dug into my skin, but that's the least of my problems. The worse it that I could feel Robert's teeth grazing my neck, until his bit into me. It hurt like nothing before. I screamed, the loudest I have ever screamed in my whole 16 years of my life. I used every breath I had left in me to do so. Then, thank God, I felt Robert being pried off my body, but I was already loosing consciousness. I was getting too dizzy, blood dripping down my neck and drenched my shirt. My head throbbed agonizingly.

"Help her!" I heard above the loud shrieks and growls that erupted from Robert. I winced and let out a gasp as someone picked me up, carrying me bridal style. The bite in my neck burned, and sizzled, making me scream just as loud as when it first got there. I gritted my teeth, but then forced my eyes opened. A pair of gorgeous green eyes looked into my bright blue ones. It was a boy. His slightly lighter black hair was curly, and floated in the air by the chilly wind. My neck burned again, making me whimper.

"Shh... it's going to be alright," the boy whispered, searching my eyes. I used the last remains of my strength to nod. Then I was too tried, and finally closed my eyes then hurt from all the tears I somehow produced. Taking one last deep breath, I let the darkness take over me.
