Come on summer! Don’t let a little thing like this get in the way of going pro! She ruined your life once don’t give her anything else to work with here! You can do this.

I was currently out in a really choppy set, trying to get my front side snaps in order. With dad screaming instructions from the shore, the waves being absolute crap and me not being able to get it together over Lani, was not a great combination. Screaming my lungs out I paddle back into shore, walk past my dad who looks like he’s about to explode and jog into my room. I slump on the couch wrapped in my towel, and pick up my phone to call Torren

“Tor, I really need your help I’m about to explode, can you come over?” I said distressed

“Of course Sum I’ll be there in 10 seconds flat” he said hurriedly as his car engine started, I hung up.

Sighing, I pick myself up of the floor and try to walk to the shower, but immediately burst into tears and collapse on the floor.

Lying there in a pool of my own tears, I see Torrens bright red Nike trainers come into view. I sniffle as he picks me up and plops me into the shower, turning the water on full blast.

“Summer, come on take a shower and we’ll fix you up when you get out ok?” he says while walking out.

I nodded and let the hot water engulf me. Scrubbing my skin within an inch of its life with my lime scented body scrub makes all my emotional pain subside for the moment, and all I can feel is the throbbing of my skin in its place. Throwing myself into sweat pants and a tank top I stumble out of the bathroom. Torren immediately looks up from the surf comp he’s watching on TV and pats the spot next to him on the couch. Curling up in a ball next to him I lay my head on his chest and sigh

“What am I going to do about you summer?” he jokes

I huff and roll my eyes “There’s nothing wrong with me! Lani was at school yesterday and it was so hard seeing her just standing there looking like nothing ever happened. She practically ruined 6 months of my training Tor, you know that!” I start to raise my voice

“Summer I was joking, were going to have to talk about this aren’t we?” he asks

I nod

“Well I have an idea, why don’t you go make popcorn and order pizza and we’ll watch a movie that I think might help a little here. What do you think?”

“Fine, sounds good” I reply

I stroll into the kitchen and find the popcorn, shove it into the microwave and grab the phone

“Hi, can I please order 3 margarita pizzas please?” I ask into the phone

“Sure, what’s your name, I’m sure you’re on our database” the guy on the other end asks

“Summer Thompson”

“Ah yes, they’ll be on their way soon, thanks summer”

Hanging up, I hear a grunt upstairs so I quickly run up to my dad’s room, open the door to find my dad beating up one of our training dummies

“Get out Summer, ill deal with you later” he growls

The microwave beeps from the kitchen so I take that as my que to leave. Pulling the burning hot popcorn out of the microwave I dump it into a bowl. The doorbell rings so I run out into the entryway and answer the door

“Summer! I haven’t seen you since last summer’s bonfire at Danny’s!” Mark exclaims from the front door, wearing the pizza places uniform and holding my pizzas

“Mark! How are you? I know it’s been way to long” I put on a fake smile

“I’m good, except for earning like nothing at this job, speaking of which I better get back”

I hand him the money and take the pizzas while trying to keep my fake smile plastered on my face

“Well thanks for saying hi Mark, it was really good seeing you, catch you later”

“Bye Summer” he replies

Shutting the door and grabbing the popcorn from the bench I jog downstairs to Torren. He’s transformed my room into the ultimate movie room. He’s drawn the blinds, put my fairy lights all over the floor, put all the blankets and pillows under one of his awesome forts and put Soul Surfer into my DVD player.

“Mmm I smell pizza! Gimme gimme!” he yells like a 5 year old

Rolling my eyes I plop down next to him and get comfortable, pressing play the movie starts.
