Bella

After my encounter with the Cullens, I headed north to see if I can find a place to stay for awhile.

I ran, and ran, and ran.

I ended up in a place filled with endless snow.

It was so peaceful, so quiet, so beautiful.

I suddenly remembered a poem my mom used to tell me every winter when I was young.

As snow started to touch the ground, We would watch the beauty and difference of every pattern, the difference of everything in life.

'I feel wet snow on my cold, dry skin

As the darkness falls to settle in.

The stars shine bright to lead my way

Through tall, snow covered trees which bend and sway.

I know not where I came from or where I will go, while strange noises crunch the new fallen snow.

I have no fears of this strange, dark place where sounds surround me without a face.

The night goes on peacefully dark and slow, with all beauty shining as a glistening glow.

I have been here before though I know not when.

As sure as I know I will be here again.

A place that is quiet, safe comforting me, while the icy brook flows 'round a sweet smelling tree.

I feel wet snow on my warm, soft skin.

It is this dark place that I want to be in.

Then I open my eyes and it all floats away, As bright warm sun shines on a brand new day.

Window panes covered in sparkling frost, reminds me of a beautiful thing I have lost.

My heart tells me in hours this day will be past, when the nighttime comes to me slowly at last.

I am back in the snow so pristine and clean.

This related to me so much today. At this moment.

This place was beautiful, quiet, safe, comforting...

This small dark place was where I wanted to be.

I sighed in content and started to go hunting.

My eyes were already turning black.

I stopped abruptly and took a whiff of the cold air.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The scent of mountain lion hit me and I was on a run immediately.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

One's beating heart.

But it wasn't mountain lion or bear.

The scent was sweeter than both of the two combined.

I growled lowly and took of after that scent.

The scent led me to a cliff and a bleeding hiker.

The scent was human.

I suddenly held my breath, but still struggled to stop myself from pouncing on the innocent human.

'I have to get out of here!' I shouted in my head.

I turned around, running the opposite direction of where the scent was.

I ran as far away from it as possible and took out my thirst on some grizzly bears and mountain lions.

Thump.

The beating heart of a human got me to act like that.

I could have killed such an innocent life.

I two was once a human, so ignorant about the world around me.

Innocent lives didn't deserve this.

I shook my head at my stupid act and looked up to see 5 pairs of golden eyes.

Really? More vampires?

"Hello" I said calmly.

"How'd you do that?" The tall man with black hair asked me.

"Do...what exactly?" I said as I cocked my head to the side in confusion.

"Run away from human blood, and yet you're just a newborn." He replied.

"I just held my breath and ran away. I would never forgive myself if I killed an innocent human. They have done nothing wrong to us." I said, shaking my head.

"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners, I am Eleazar Denali, This is my mate Carmen, and these are Kate, Irina and Tanya."

They all extended their hand for me to shake except Tanya.

Tanya glared at me, with pure hatred in her eyes.

"Isabella Swan, but please call me Bella." I said quietly.

"Would you like to come to our home?" Carmen asked me with a warm smile.

I nodded slowly and they told me to follow their scents.

After we talked about how old I was and how Eleazar said he couldn't feel what my gift was, he announced that I was a shield, and to test out that theory, Kate tried shocking me with her ability. After seeing nothing was happening, we finally declared I was a shield.

I started bonding Kate and Irina.

Kate was fun and had an amazing sense of Humor, I instantly knew we were going to get along.

Irina was quiet but I got along quite well with her.

Tanya. Was still glaring at me.

I ignored her as I laughed with everyone.

Carmen suddenly asked me a shocking question.

"Would you like to stay with us?" She asked with a warm smile.

"Yeah. It would be nice to have you around." Kate said and smiled at me encouragingly.

"Alright" I replied softly with a small smile.
