Unlike Amber, Reed understood the human language, he looked at her horrified, "No... Amber, run."
She growled louder, ignoring his warning.
"Amber please..."
The human took another step closer, ignoring the fox.
She barked and jumped towards him, latching her teeth into his arm. He whipped around and yelled as she took a chunk of his arm.
He grabbed her by the ears and tried to tear her off his arm, then stubbled backward into a tree. "Little fucking bitch!!" He grunted and turned, then slammed Amber repeatedly into the trunk until she let go. He kicked her once she fell and held his arm.
Reed yelled to her as her blood began to soak the ground. He didn't even consider the humans standing over him.
The other human kicked Reed hard in the face then stomped it into the dirt while cursing angrily.
Reed kicked and grabbed the humans foot but was weak from all the blood he lost.
He looked hopelessly back at Amber. She was crumpled and broken. He reached toward her, knowing he wouldn't get to her.
The human put more weight on his foot, smashing Reeds head into the dirt. He grabbed one of the antlers with both hands and began to rip it from Reeds head.
He grabbed his head and shrieked in pain as the antler cracked and dislocated itself from his skull. The second one didn't feel any better. He began to turn pale as the humans walked away. He grunted and breathed heavily as his vision started to blur. He looked at Amber once more.
She coughed up a magnitude of blood and gasped. Her body shook as she whimpered softly. She looked up and saw Reed staring blankly at her. She used all her strength to drag herself to him.
His eyes followed her every move until she became an orange fog. Her face only came into focus as she sat over him. She placed her forehead against his. His body felt nothing. But he knew she was there. He tried to smile as her blood dripped onto his face.
It felt like hours they lied there as their lives faded away.
