Vaati gazed down at the place that will soon be known as his school. It was a hallowed out tree that had fallen a very long time ago, according to his mom it had fallen when his great great grandfather was alive, way before the time he was born. After the news of his father reached his mother she had allowed him a bit more freedom than before, which is why he was scouting out his new school from atop of a flower, well... a weed to be more accurate....It was dandelion actually.
Anyhow he would be starting school tomorrow, but there was no harm in coming early to see what the place was like. School was just ending by the looks of it, so he could see everyone rushing from the front door out into the yard, he was so distracted by the unfamiliar scene before him that he had failed to noticed that someone had climbed up on the same dandelion he was on, so it was no surprised when he basically jumped out of his skin when he heard a voice speak out from behind.
"Hey there!"
Tail bushed out in fright he turned to face the other. They had the traditional forest Minish garb, and messy brown hair that spilled out from under their bright red hat, along with brilliant dark purple eyes.
"Um....hi?"
"Noticed you were staring at the school." The stranger nodded his head towards the school. "Uh...... Yeah I was, I'm starting school there tomorrow," Vaati responded, awkwardly looking to side to avoid having to meet the others gaze. He was getting nervous because the other was a bit taller than he was, the fact that he had never talked to this Minish before now didn't help.He was then grabbed by the shoulders, making him instinctively snap his head up to look at the other's face. He was surprised by the look on the others face, which was filled with excitement, and curiosity, his eyes seem to sparkle as he inspected the smaller boy. "Woah, really?! Are you transfer then? What's your name? Where did you come from? Are you a mountain Minish? No, no wait- let me guess, you're a Minish from town right?"
Vaati thoughts swirled as he was bombarded with questions. "H-hold on, that's too many questions! One at time!"
This time the other took his hands off Vaati's shoulders with a sheepish laugh. "Whoops, sorry about that. I got a bit too excited there. Okay then, what's your name?"
"Vaati, Vaati Picoru."
"Vaati huh? Nice to meetcha! Next question, where are you from?"
"Uhh, I'm from here. The forest."
"....The forest?"
Vaati nodded shuffling uncomfortably under the strange look the other gave him. "You...You don't look like you're a forest Minish..."
"I-I don't?"
The boy shook his head. "You don't, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. You're unique, and that makes you special!"
Vaati gave the other a small smile. "Thanks, but I've been meaning to ask, what's your name?"
"Me? The name's Geptari," he said giving the smaller Minish a grin.
"Geptari...that's a nice name!"
"Thanks Vaati! Oh. I should probably be heading home now, my mom turns into worrywart if I don't go home straight after school."
Vaati nodded. "Okay, then. I'll see you tomorrow maybe?"
"Yeah tomorrow!" Geptari promised as he slid down the stem of the dandelion.
"Bye!" Vaati called and waved to his new friend, who was already running off among the blades of grass. From the top of the dandelion he saw Geptari wave back before disappearing from sight. Wow! He had already made a friend without having started school, imagine how many more friends he'll make when he does start school! With a happy bounce at the thought Vaati started to head back home himself.XxxxxX
