Why are you so blind?

How are you so kind?

Yet, darkness swirls in your mind

Your eyes see what no one else will

All the pain, all the suffering, those who in cold blood kill

And you bear it all on your own

A weight I could not condone

Dark seeps deep into bone

Now, you can no longer see the light

You long ago gave up your fight

You always worked so hard to make others smile

Their opinions you did beguile

They never saw the broken girl

Heart stained black as a midnight pearl

Holding the knife to her wrists, her sides

The demons in her mind being her guides

She no longer felt any love

And she hid her hands with many a glove

One night it went too far

And the knife would do much more than scar

Soon she crumpled to the floor

Glassy, empty eyes stared at the door

Gone was the girl that everybody thought they knew

Left alone, with no final "I love you"

Her body lying in a pool of red

Her dying heart, was finally dead.
