"Ashur, I'm home!" I yelled. No answer. That's weird, he usually gets here before me because he's 2 years older than me and has a car. Meanwhile I've got to take the bus. "Stupid bus," I muttered. I set the house keys on the coffee table by the front door. I went to his room and knocked on his door.

"Ashur!" I yelled through the small crack in the door. I stuck my ear up to the door to try and eavesdrop on him, if he was even here.

"What do you-" Ashur started to say as he opened the door.

"Oomph!" I said as I fell to the ground. I looked up at Ashur to see him staring down at me with his arms crossed and foot tapping.

"And what do you think you were doing?" he asked calmly.

"Nothing!" I yelled as I got up and ran to the kitchen. I opened the fridge to find we had absolutely no food. "Ashur, we're out of food!" I yelled in his direction.

"That's a shame. What do you want me to do about that?" asked Ashur from the kitchen doorway.

"Get more food?" I asked hopefully.

"Nope. That's mom's job, and it will soon be yours," he said turning around.

"Oh come on, cut mom some slack. You know how busy she is!" I yelled after him.

"In that case, you do it!" he yelled as he slammed his door shut.

"Ugh, I hate grocery shopping," I mumbled as I walked to the front door, grabbing the house keys, my phone and my wallet and walking out of the house.

"Let's see, where's the bread," I said as I scanned the aisles. Why do grocery shops have to be so big?! "Where the heck is the bread?!" I yelled.

"Right behind you," said a male voice to my left. I turned around swiftly just in time to smash my head onto the head beside me.

"Ouch!" I yelled as I fell to the ground.

"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! Are you okay?" asked the man that I have yet to find the name of.

"Yeah I think I'm alright. How about you?" I asked looking up from my spot on the ground. I had to admit, he's pretty cute and I swear I've seen him before.

"I'm fine. Do you need help up?" He asked.

"Not before you tell me your name," I said eyeing him up and down.

"Oh! Right, sorry. The thought completely slipped my mind. My name's Ryan," he said as he brought his hand out to shake. "I think I've seen you around before."

"Oh right! Yeah, you're in my English class, I'm Jess," I said as I grabbed his hand. To my surprise, once I grabbed his hand, he pulled me up from the ground.

Once I was up, we were a little too close for comfort. Although he didn't seem to mind because he smiled widely. I backed up and took my hand from his and smiled back at him.

"Well it was nice meeting you. I'll see you around?" I asked as I went over and grabbed the bread that was next to Ryan.

"Yeah, I'll see you around," he said. "Oh! I work here and I could give you a discount on your items? I always give discounts to people I know."

"Oh it's alright, I have enough money. Plus I'm sure your boss wouldn't appreciate that," I said trying my best not to run away from him. I'm really nervous around guys. Only nice ones though. Populars don't really bother me, but Ryan was nice.

"No I insist. My boss has yet to find out how many discounts I have given away for free, so why would he find out now?" he said with a warm smile.

"Okay then. Thank you," I said with a smile and walked towards the cash register.

"I'll ring you up," Ryan said. He then walked behind one of the checkout aisles that wasn't lit up as I followed his swift pace. He ducked under the cash register and flipped a switch which turned the aisle sign on. Aisle seven, my lucky number. I set the bread and some other items on the conveyor and watched it slowly glide to Ryan. I watched him scan my items in silence.

"Will that be all?" He asked as he looked up from the cash register.

"Yes, what do I owe you?" I asked as I grabbed my wallet from my back pocket.

"$12 even," said Ryan. He then typed something into the cash register and said, "But with the discount, $5."

"Wow, that's a big discount."

"Well, I give bigger discounts to nicer people," Ryan said.

I handed him my money and then put my wallet back into my back pocket. Ryan took the money from my hand and handed me my bag.

"Thank you Ryan, I'll see you at school," I said as I started walking away.

"Yeah, bye!" Ryan said with a wave.
