Stephanie sat on the bed waiting for what the doctor had to say. "I'm sorry ma'am but she didn't make it" she said as she looked down. Stephanie looked up in shock she tried to hold back the tears she had but they fell down her face in huge amounts. Ace walked over to her and wiped her tears away. "It's okay baby. We can try again." At this point Stephanie felt helpless as she fell into Ace's arms. The nurse slowly walked out of the room. Ace held her for a long time until they heard a knock on the door. Ace went to open the door and saw August. Ace thought about whether or not he should let him in. After a few seconds Ace opened the door and August walked in. "Baby I'm gonna go get you something to eat" he said as he walked out. August sat down on the bed. "I heard what happened to the baby... I'm really sorry"he said as he stared at his lap. Stephanie lifted his chin And stared into his eyes. They stared at each other for a few seconds. Then stephanie let his head fall back down. "Im really sorry for what I said to you" he looked up to see Stephanie staring at him. "I will be by your side every step of your recovery if you let me" he continued. Just then Ace walked in with a bag with take out containers. August sat still as Ace took the other seat on the other side of the bed. "Her you go baby" he said as he handed her a container. August rolled his eyes and thought 'this nigga is so fucking lame' Stephanie tried to eat a piece of meat but she just threw it back in the container. Both Ace and August jumped up. "Baby you okay" they both said in unison. They looked at each other. There was a silence. Until Ace stood up. "I need you to decide who you want" he said. Stephanie looked up at both of them. "Or atleast where you going" August stated. Stephanie stared at the ceiling and laid back. She took a deep breathe and said "neither of y'all I already told y'all after they release me I'm going to go back to Atlanta but I'm not coming back with you." She said looking at Ace. "what mean stephanie you really about to piss me off." Said Ace as he dm sat back down. "Get out!" She yelled. Ace grabbed his jacket and walked toward the door. Before closing it he said "all I know is that if it ain't me it ain't nobody." August stood up but Ace closed the door. "Look steph.." "you too" she interrupted. "Wait what" he said . Stephanie looked away from his and stared out the window. "I love you" he said as he walked toward the door. Stephanie slowly turned her head toward him and smirked slightly. "August wait" she said. " He turned around and smiled. "I've been waiting for that all day" she smiled as she leaned up and kissed him softly.
2 WEEKS LATER
Stephanie was out of the hospital and resting at Ruth's house. Everyone else had went out to go things for Stephanie's birthday but she didn't know. She sat on the couch alone. She sighed loudly and got up to go get some ice cream when she heard a knock on the door. I slowly walked towards the door and looked through the peep hole. "Riley" I mumbled. I opened the door and gave her a fake smile. "Hey Stephanie how you been" she asked with a wide smile. "Fine" I said . There was a moment of silence.
"Soooo is August here by any chance" she asked. "No they left before I woke up" said Stephanie. "Well can you tell him I came by?" She smiled. Stephanie nodded and waved by. Riley turned around and began to walk away. Just as she was about to unlock her door August pulled up along with puma and Ruth. Riley ran to August as he got out the car. Stephanie watched with the door open. "Hey baby" she said as she kissed him. August paused. "I haven't seen you in like 3 weeks I thought u were ignoring me" she laughed. "Uh hey riley" he said giving a fake smile. "Hey Ruth and puma" waved Riley as they walked by. Ruth simply waved at her while puma completely ignored her. Puma knew that August and Stephanie had been messing around since she came back to Ruth's house. "So baby you gonna invite me inside? It's kinda cold out here." She laughed. "Actually I'm gonna call you later I have to uhhh go talk to my mom asap she's sick" he lied. Riley frowned "well okay" she said as she kissed him again. August just stood there as she walked to her car and drove off. Stephanie closed the door and locked it before her could get in. "Stephanie let me explain please" he said as he pleaded to be let back in the door." You know what I don't even care" said Stephanie as she opened the door and walked off. August followed her as she walked to her room. Stephanie grabbed the two suitcases she already packed and placed them on the bed. "Where you going?" Asked August. "Home" Stephanie said simply. "Home!" August yelled. "I know you didn't except me to stay here right" she said as she turned around. "Yea but I thought you pushed the date back" he said confused. " I did now our plane leaves tomorrow." She said. "We?" Asked August. "Puma" she said and went into the bathroom. August followed her. "What are you doing?" She Said as she tried to push him out the door. "I want you to tell me you love me still" he said looking into her eyes. Stephanie tried to fix her mouth to say something but she couldn't. August walked out of the bathroom and went to his room and closed the door. Stephanie went to sleep. Puma went downstairs and started talking to Ruth. "So you guys still coming down to Atlanta for Stephanie's 24th birthday" asked puma. "Yup! And even though her birthday is on September 10th we'll be down on the 8th" smiled Ruth . Moments later August walked down the stairs. "Cuz what happened to you coming to Atlanta for good?" Asked puma. "I'm still coming I just need to find another apartment" he said plainly.
