Chapter 1: The Beginning

She didn't hear a word this guy was saying. She was to busy crying.

Bucky's gone.

Steve's gone.

The only person she really has is Peggy. They've been friends since they were children and when they got in their teen years, they just drifted apart sort of. When her and Steve joined the army, they met up with Peggy and now she's all she has. They were at the S.S.R. hidden base packing their things now that the war is over. They have decided to get a job at the same place and get an apartment together so they could walk to work every morning. But they get stuck at the office late sometimes.

Elizabeth had to stay later than Peggy one night, but she insisted on staying.

"I am not leaving you here with these arrogant men. They-" she starts, getting cut-off by Chief Dooley.

"Carter! Didn't I tell you to go home?" The chief asks.

"Sir, I do not want to leave my best friend here alone," Peggy says.

"Is that disrespect to the person that controls your paycheck?" He inquires.

This is where Elizabeth butt's-in.

"Sir, Peggy is just worried about my safety on my walk home. She doesn't want me to get hurt. She's protective like that," she says, with the utter most respect.

"She'll be fine. She can handle herself, Peggy. She can get a taxi or ask for a ride from one of the guys," Dooley says.

"That's ok, Sir. I prefer to walk. It helps me think," she replies sweetly.

"Okay then. Have a good night you two," he states plainly.

"Are you sure about walking home alone, El?" Peggy said, trying to get her to change her mind. "It is bloody dangerous and you dont know what criminals are out and about tonight," she said.

"Pegs, go home and get some sleep. I'll be home no later than eleven," Elizabeth says.

"Oh, fine," Peggy says, tossing her hands up in defeat. She walks out and starts home.

'Does she seriously think I can't handle myself? Quite rude,' Elizabeth thinks to herself.

She finish all the paperwork the men dumped on her, filed the papers, took messages, cleaned up a little bit, organized some files and papers and she was done.

She stood from her desk, grabbed her jacket off the back of her chair, grabbed the hat that Peggy got her for her birthday last month, pushed her chair in, turned the lights off and left for home. Her and Peggy didn't live that far from the office. Only a few blocks away. More specifically, five blocks.

She was on her third block home when a car drove up very slowly. All of a sudden, about 20-30 agents -not of the S.S.R. or S.H.I.E.L.D. so HYDRA probably- got out and start trying to capture her. She fought back the best she could, but lost the fight. They muffled her screams, grabbed her, throw her into the car, and drove off.

Peggy didn't find it off that Elizabeth didn't come home last night. She probably stayed late at the office. The next morning, Peggy found a box on their doorstep. She brought it inside and opened it. Elizabeth's hat. It's all red with black, red and white ribbon around it. Peggy put the hat on and went to work. When she got there, she reported Eli missing.

They worked hard to get her back, but couldn't find her.

Present Day

Elizabeth was being brainwashed, tortured, sent to murder innocent people, she was injected with the same Super-Soldier serum that Bucky, I mean, the Winter Soldier was injected with. She was put through the same torture as him. They sent those two on missions together all the time. When they are on a mission, he is a complete buzz kill. After the mission, they giggle and laugh and have fun. One night, he escaped being brainwashed and helped her escape. The last words that he told her were to look for someone named Steve Rogers. He said he was her brother and that he could help save him. Then he told her to run and don't look back, and that's exactly what she did.
