"Sir?" said a shrimpy kid who appeared out of nowhere replied. This kid made it to a promotion? I thought to myself.
All of the officers dispersed and It was me and the shrimp. He said "Now newbie, you're probably thinking I am just a shrimp." Be fore I could deny it he held up his hand and said "Everyone did at one time or another." He started pacing "Well you'll soon learn you are the shrimp. Your muscles don't matter in this program. Your mind does." He turned on his heel so I was facing his back. " Now look at me and tell me what you see.
"I'm not going to judge you I don't know you at all." I said. Suddenly I didn't want to get on this kid's bad side.
"Smart move. As your new commanding officer-" I cut him off
"Wait, wait, wait slow down. Commanding officer?" I was totally flustered, first this kid is just wandering the halls THE I was just assigned to him out of the blue? I don't think so. "Um, uh Person? Since when am I in your squad? I mean you just say you're my new officer out of the blue. All the dude said was for you to show me to my quarters!" I was just looking at the facts. Or at least I thought I was.
He stared at me for a minute. I stared back. "As I was saying as your new commanding officer," He paused to make sure I wasn't going to interrupt him again.
I held my tongue. " I will be the one to show you your new quarters. Your new combat sims, and your new-"
"Woah, woah, woah, new combat sims? What could be new? I mean we already have command of an avatar through a dark room!"
"Yes, but do you have control of a whole army? No, you don't. Now if you don't mind Not interrupting me-"
"Sorry sir!" Gosh I was already calling him sir.
"There you go again. Do you know something? Being the commanding officer of all of the newbies isn't fun. I have to defend myself against some of them sometimes. Do you think I have problems defending myself? Newbie?"
"Sir no sir!" I gave him the 1-2-1 sequence. It's the Sir at the beginning then the one word answer then another sir. They always like that. I smiled we were going to get along fine.
