Sami~ Don't forget to play the song when I tell you to and enjoy! 💕 I know a lot of you are probably thinking that this is turning into a Jean x Reader fanfiction but I can assure you, IT'S NOT. (Y/N) and Jean are just extremely close and he's just helping her through things. Don't worry though, Levi is coming in shortly!

(Y/N)'s POV

After Levi and mine's encounter, the lunch bell rang and Jean instantly grabbed onto my hand, dragging me to the Dining Hall. We grab our trays of food and go sit down at a table in the far right corner of the candle-lit hall. The three people from before walk up and sit with us.

"I'm Armin, Armin Arlert!" The blonde-haired boy smiles, sitting across from me. I only keep my head down, tossing my food around on my tray with my fork. I refused to eat. I refused to speak unless spoken to by the Corporal. I didn't even speak to Jean.

Armin only looks at me, his smile fading into a look of pity. The raven-haired girl sits next to him so no one is in front of her.

"I'm Mikasa Ackermann. I look forward to fighting with you." Is all she says, looking at me blankly. I only continue to play with my food, not even bothering to acknowledge her presence. The raven-haired boy finally sits down, in front of Jean.

"Hey, Jean... Is she a selective mute or something?" Jean sighs quietly.

"No, she's not. She's just thinking. She tends to do that when she's upset." The boy only nods, letting Jean's words sink in. He then turns to me, examining my features.

"Eren, Eren Yeager." He says rather blankly. I place my fork down, causing his gaze to go to my tray, seeing how it was still full from when I got it. Jean takes notice too and begins to get worried. Sighing once again, he turns to me, grabbing my fork and picking up some food with it. He then holds it up to me, waiting for me to give in. I only let out a quiet sigh through my nose, staring at the fork with a broken look in my eyes.

"Eat for me, (Y/N). Please..." Jean begs desperately. "You haven't eaten all day." He begs again, only this time, I gave him a quiet answer.

"Not hungry..." I reply, my voice cracking a bit. He then gives me a stern look, bringing the fork closer.

"I'm not leaving until you eat something. So either you at least eat this forkful, or we can sit here all damn night. I've got nothing to do, anyways." I sigh and finally, but hesitantly, open my mouth as he gently feeds me the forkful. I swallow it only to feel it begin to come back up. Making a gagging noise, I get up and run out of the hall, throwing my forkful back up into some bushes. I feel strong hands grip onto my (H/L), (H/C) hair, pulling it into a ponytail. I look up to see who it is only to be met with Jean's amber gaze. I smile a bit, it soon fading when I feel a little more come back up. I quickly turn my head and continue to throw back up my food. Hearing me begin to struggle with my breathing, he lets go of my hair with one hand, bringing it to my back and rubbing it in small circles, easing my choking and the burning pain I felt in my throat. I finally stand up, wiping my lips with my (F/C) sleeve. Jean then wraps an arm around me and we both trudge to his cabin.

Jean's POV

I hated seeing her like this. It's like all of her problems are coming back to her and weighing her down. She's in the shower right now, cleaning all of the debris and ash from her (S/T) skin and (H/C) hair. I had given her a pair of my boxers and one of my white shirts since she didn't have any clothes with her to wear. I sigh quietly, sitting on my bed and running a hand through my dirty-blonde hair. I get lost in my thoughts, remembering one of the times that I had saved her from herself about six years ago:

It was a cool summer evening. She had been at her worst that day. She wanted to jump. To end it. Running through the woods, she spotted the cliff. I had been chasing after her, knowing exactly what she wanted to do. The wind was blowing through her (H/L), (H/T), (H/C) hair and tears stained her (S/T) face. Finally reaching the cliff, she jumped. I instantly wrapped my arms around her waist before she jumped too far and pulled her back, falling with her in my lap and turning her around to face me so she could cry on my shoulder. I've never held her so tight in my life. The only thing I could think of was to cry with her. So, burying my face into the crook of her neck, I cried. We sat there for hours, crying and holding each other tightly. I had to carry her home because she was so weak. I even slept over that night, staying up to watch her. Every time she stirred, I'd jump, thinking she was about to get up and make a run for it again.

She woke up slightly, reaching out to one of my hands and holding it tightly. I tense up a bit, getting worried and looking into her dull, half lidded (E/C) eyes.

"Thank you, Jean. For saving me..." She breaths out sleepily through her parted lips. Her grip then loosens as she falls asleep once more. I then loosen up a bit, sighing quietly before whispering back.

"I'd never let anything happen to you... Always remember that, (Y/N/N)."

I was pulled out of my thoughts by (Y/N) opening the bathroom door. Her hair was still wet, falling down her back and her expression looked a bit more relaxed. I get up from my bed and walk over to her. I instantly grab her wrists, just to make sure. Holding my breath, I turn her wrists over, thankfully revealing only her old scars. Letting out my breath, I drop her wrists and wrap my arms around her small frame, burying my face into her wet, sweet-smelling hair. I feel her place her hands on my chest and bury her face in it, sighing quietly. I then let her go and look at her.

"You can have my bed." I smile a bit at her. She then looks up at me, raising an eyebrow before speaking in a hushed tone.

"What about you? You need your bed, Jean." I only smile and kiss her forehead, reassuring her it was okay.

Getting an idea, I pick her up bridal style and bring her to the bed. I get in and cradle her in my lap so she's comfortable. She relaxes a bit and cuddles into me. I only smile at her, holding her tighter. I begin to hum quietly, then singing in the same hushed tone she had used just moments before. I normally don't sing, but she needed it. And besides, I only sing when I'm around her, especially if it's her favorite song or to get her to sleep.

(Play the song :3)

"Hang me down
By the river bed
With the other dead.
I will sing the whole way down.

Hang me down
By the river bed
With the other dead.
I will die without a sound.

Save me, save me, save...
Oh lord save me, save me again.

Hang me down
By the river bed
With the other dead.
I will die without a sound.

Hang me down
By the river bed
With the other dead.
I will sing the whole way down.

Save me, save me, save...
Oh lord save me, save me again.

Sometimes they say it's the faith that saves us all.
Sometimes they say it's the day that changes us
Sometimes they... they never really say.

Hang me down
By the river bed
With the other dead."

Seeing how she's fallen asleep, I smile down at her form, feeling her breathing going steady. I finish the song softly, resting my head back against the headboard of the bed and closing my eyes.

"I will sing the whole way down."
