Diana's POV

I parked my truck in the drive way and headed into the house, no one was home. All the lights were off and most of the curtains were closed, it made the house look as if no one had been inside for a few days. Dust was starting to collect on surfaces through out the house.

"I should start dusting the place more often."

I made my way to the kitchen in absolute darkness. I've walked through this whole house my entire life, getting through it in the dark is almost second nature by now.

I grabbed a soda from the fridge and plopped down on the living room sofa. I grabbed the remote control and flipped through the channels, but there wasn't anything to watch.

I chose some sitcom from the 90's and stuck with it. It was about an orc who wanted to be a fashion designer and could also had visions of the future. Her and her two friends keep getting into some really funny situations and had to think of some ways out of them.

I was into an episode when I heard the front door open. My mother walked in wearing her work clothes, obviously tired from a long day at work.

"Hey mom, you ok?"

She squinted at me for a moment, her eyes adjusting to the dark. When she finally recognized me, a smile covered her face.

"Oh hey sweetie, yeah I'm fine. Just being an arch angel has its drawbacks. How you been? How was school today?"

"It was boring like always."

"Like always?"

She walked over to the sofa and also popped-a-squat next to me. You could tell she was exhausted by the way she laying down.

She had her legs resting on mine, she was laying on her back with her head resting on the arm of the sofa. She had her arms folded near her stomach while she was also watching tv.

Sense my mom worked a lot she didn't have time to care about having to look a curtain way when she was at home. This was her only time off and I understood that, even when I was growing up.

While I was growing up, my mom did a lot for me. Whenever my birthday came around, she would work extra hours so she could have time off to spend with me. I truly love and appreciate everything she has done for me.

My mom turned her head to look at me as my mind wondered back to the past.

"Diana, why are you staring at me? Do I have something on my face, or am I just that beautiful?", she said jokingly.

I snapped out of my thoughts and back to reality. I hadn't realized I was staring. My mom likes to play around a lot when she's with me; sense she had me when she was still young, that part of her never went away. Mom's weird like that.

"No, no. Sorry, I was just thinking."

"Ok."

My mother relaxed at bit, and after a few minutes, she was fast sleep. She must've been really tired this time. I got up from the sofa and headed ups stairs to my bedroom. I opened the door, and threw my backpack aside and laid down on my bed.

I stared at the ceiling, not really thinking or doing anything, just staring. My eyes traced every grove, and every shadow casted by the light from outside. I let my body relax, as I slowly drifted off to sleep.

Michael's P.O.V

I watched as Diana's red truck drove down the street and disappear before walking inside my home. Light poured into the house through all the windows, it gave a more natural feel to it.

It's funny, the thought of a grimreaper's house being so brightly lit. Most people see death as a creature of darkness, and they would be mostly correct. Demons, grim reapers, dark angels, and others, mainly live in darkness.

I, including my grandmother, don't fit that description. We're the odd balls of our kind, we prefer the light.

My grandma was in the kitchen washing dishes when I walked in.

"Hello Micha! How was school? Did you have a good day?"

My grandma knew my name is Michael, but she calls me "Micha" for short. I never knew why.

"School was the same as always. My day was fine. I've got some homework to do, ok?"

"Okay. Dinner will be ready in a few hours."

I didn't respond as I had already made my way to my bedroom. In my bedroom I walked over to my computer system and imputed the password. The system booted up starting where I left off.

Recently I had been studying a theory of mine: What if there was another world linked to ours?
