Chapter 4: New Members Pt. 2

"So, what about Y/N and Natsu? Since they're both dragon slayers, they must be close." Juvia says to Mira. Mira nods then takes Juvia's empty glass that used to have milk and places it in the sink.

"Close than you think." She states. Juvia and Lucy look at each other in disgust when they immediately thought of the same thing. Mira notices their disgust and realizes what she said. "No, not like that! Just close friends!"

"Ohh" Lucy and Juvia said in union. The three chuckle for a little until Mira starts telling the story of how Natsu and Y/N met.

Y/N L/N was just strolling back to her guild after going on a small job which was to help an elderly person buy some food. She actually enjoyed the job as it involved helping others and she got some jewels in the end. She finally makes it to the entrance of the guild; the doors were wide open which is understandable since it was hot that day and everyone wanted air.

"You can't read? What an idiot!" You heard to familiar voice of Mirajane mock. Y/N tilts her head in confusion; who could Mira be making fun of?

"I-I can definitely read! Igneel has taught me names of different foods!" A little boys voice can be heard. Y/N spends no time in standing there so she enters the guild to see what all the commotion is about.

"Yea, because dragons are apparently real huh? How pathetic!" Mira teases. There was a little boy with salmon hair having the most humiliated face ever as he holds a piece of paper in his hand. Mira was cackling in her victory insult even though it wasn't funny or smart.

"He is real! He taught me all my dragon-slaying magic and raised me!" The boy snaps. Y/N was stunned. Another dragon slayer in the guild? It all makes sense now! Y/N herself can't read either due to lack of education from her dragon but she is learning slowly. The Ice Dragon-Slayer knows herself that dragons are real and couldn't bear to see the salmon-haired boy be humiliated over something that is in fact true. Y/N steps into the little circle and stands next to the boy and faces Mira with an evil glare.

"So what he can't read? I can't read either!" She begins then balls her fists tightly. "Before you make fun of someone who hasn't learned to read yet, how about you learn how to be nice for once, Mira?!" Everyone arounds them is shocked that someone actually stood up to the demon known as Mira. The boy couldn't believe that someone is actually standing up for him.

"W-well, you're just angry cause you know dragons don't exist, you pipsqueak!" She exclaims with her fingers pointing at Y/N. Y/N mischievously grins at Mira then puts her hands on her hips.

"Actually, they are real. I was raised by one and she taught me my magic. I will find my mom one day and that will be the day you'll finally shut the hell up!" She snaps, leaving Mira and everyone in the guild speechless. However, the boy stands and watches the fight between the two girls since he's unknown of Y/N's character. Everyone was shocked that the sweetest and kindest girl could be so harsh and sassy when she's mad. They start to wonder how she acts when she's really angry.

Mira scoffs then stomps away without saying a word. Y/N turns to face the boy and gives him a heart-warming smiles. "I overheard that you're a dragon slayer." She states. The boy nods but stays silent. "So am I! I'm Y/N L/N, the ice dragon slayer!" She stands high and mighty with her hands still in her hips. The boy slightly giggles then begins to introduce himself.

"I-I'm Natsu, the fire dragon slayer." He greets. "So, ice huh? Doesn't go well fire actually."

"I guess." Y/N chuckles then notices the flyer in Natsu's hand. "How about I try to read that for you?"

"Didn't you say you couldn't read?" He questions with his eyebrows furrowed together. It's true Y/N can't fully read but she can somehow understand job flyers which is more than enough for her. But, Erza just keeps pushing her to continue learning how to read.
