Tristan's pov

It was nearly night when I returned home.Silence prevailed everywhere. I was so panicked after that phone call. It was Mrs.Smith, our housekeeper and sometimes caretaker too.It was raining at that time and the network coverage was poor so I couldn't really understand what she was trying to say but it seemed urgent. She sounded worried but I couldn't get all the information from her.

I tossed the car keys hastily at the guard to have the car parked while I sped to the main door.I pulled it open and there I was,in an empty luxurious  mansion, people called home. There was nothing left for me in there except for one thing.

My shirt was faintly damp against my skin and the dirt sticked on my jeans were uncomfortable. My hair was tousled in a mess just like the situation.I searched here and there until I found Mrs.Smith in the kitchen. She was busy with the chef, probably preparing for dinner but everything looked fine then why did she call me?She noticed my presence outside the kitchen and rushed to me in no time. She really maintained her health to be able to be so energetic at this age. She was anxious and that stressed me even more.

"Tristan!Oh Thank God you're here. I've been trying to contact you for so long, " she wrapped her arms around me and added,"Where have you been?"

My heart felt heavy in my chest and my brain was about to explode.I'd been in a mess and my peace of mind was lost somewhere. I was frozen in her arms and didn't even react. Mrs. Smith was a great lady...very compassionate, humble, loving and smart. She managed this house for many years and took great care of us.I liked her because she reminded me of my mom.She extricated slowly and met my gaze. I could read it on her face that something was definitely wrong.

"What's wrong?"I asked persistently.

"It's Mia...She tried to escape from her room again.God knows how she got out.She was so panicked and it was almost impossible to catch her and get her to calm down.Mr.McGrath was busy in the office and his mobile was unreachable. Then I had to call you but to no avail. She was running all over the place,...Dear Lord I had to convoke all the guards present to stop her and give her the sleeping pills," she said while catching her breath in between.

"What?Where is she now ?Is she fine?"I cursed myself for this situation. I was so furious after that dispute with that man that I almost forgot Mia.She must have heard everything. She was so fragile and innocent.

"She's safe and she's probably still unconscious in her room.We locked her inside....we didn't have much choice. " she said guiltily. She couldn't even look into my eyes while speaking. She knew how much I hated the idea of having Mia locked in a room. That was too harsh... Let alone a human....not even an animal deserved to be treated this way....and Mia was just..well,Mia, my Mia...my sole reason to live.

I had to see her.God knows what they've done to her.I rushed to the stairs and straight in front of her door. They really locked her inside.Mrs.Smith was shouting downstairs and of course trying to stop me but there was no point in trying.

I was reluctant to open the door.My hands were ice-cold and firmly gripping the door knob.I looked down at my shoes and swallowed the lump in my throat. How would I face her ?

By that time, Mrs.Smith caught up and touched my shoulders to stop me.

"I don't think it's the right time. You have no idea what she can do...It's not safe for you in there,...please don't go,"she pleaded desperately. But I was a hard-headed man...it would take more than that to stop me from seeing Mia.I couldn't step back when I knew she needed me or maybe I needed her.
