Felix let out a big sigh as he stepped into yet another new school. It was his third this year. Junior year was the worst year to be locationally unstable, what with ACTs and all. But it wasn't his fault his parents kept alienating everyone around them.

Felix was strange, he knew that, but his parents definitely took the cake on that one. They were freaking hippies, for Pete's sake. They had just allowed him to get a computer this year, the first electronic in their house since he was five, and that was just because he'd persuaded them it'd help him study for the ACT.

He realized he'd gotten so lost in his thoughts that he'd come to a complete stop in the hallway. He stumbled forward when someone crashed into him from behind.

"Hey, watch where you decide to fall asleep, dumbass!" A rather large kid yelled at him, shoving him into the nearby lockers.

Felix could feel his face turn cherry red. He ducked his head and pushed his glasses up his nose, hiding his face behind his too long hair. Hiking his backpack up farther onto his back, he hunched over and quickly headed to his first class.

He was given a tour of this ginormous school last week, and if he remembered correctly, his first class, AP Calculus, was was just down the next hallway on his right. He sure hoped there wouldn't be any troublesome kids in any of his classes. Felix was here to learn, get good grades, and avoid trouble...or just people in general. People skills were not his strong suit.

As he came upon the ever-so-slightly familiar classroom labeled Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus, he froze. There was a line of people standing outside the closed wooden door.

Nope. Nope nope nope nope.

He could not do this. There were way too many people.

Felix turned to escape to the bathrooms temporarily - or maybe just forever and a half - when he ran smack into another body. How unfortunate for him.

The body let out a small whimper and Felix immediately felt horrible. He could feel his face, which had finally cooled down, flare up into flames again. Damn his social awkwardness.

Felix looked through the slits in his shaggy hair and made immediate eye contact with a girl. Her thick, dirty blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail and her blue eyes were staring at him accusingly.

"Hey, watch where you turn, small dude." Surprisingly, her voice was soft and almost... kind? That was a first. Usually people had no patience for a klutz like him. But there was always an exception, he supposed.

"Do you talk?" The girl waved her hand in front of Felix's half-hidden face. He jumped and looked at the girl with wide eyes. Face still beet red, he nodded jerkily.

"Cool. Anyways, you going to Mrs. Jack-ass-son's class?" Felix just stared. He toes the ground and nodded shyly again.

"Awesome. Oh, I almost forgot. I'm Charlie, and I'm your new best friend."
