THE PACKAGE : Part 1

It only took a second for the package to come to me. But it's probably gonna take decades for me to decide whether to open it or not.

The package was sure a mystery. But so was everything going on these days. I decided to take the attempt in fighting my fears and desolations, and without thinking for another second, I went for it. As my shivery fingers ran past the tapes and finely wrapped paper, I knew I was gonna freak out real soon. What could be in there?

The package was quite huge. Not too huge, but yeah, moderately large. It took me a few minutes to unwrap the entire thing. I was expecting something like...I don't know. Probably, scary? But it turned out to be something I couldn't have guessed in a million years. It was a town. To be clarifying, little ceramic pieces put together to form a town. There were streets, houses and a collection of almost everything a town's supposed to have. It was something a child would play with, or an elder would place in their showpiece collection.

As I took a closer look to the thing, I saw some black spots. Burn spots. Like it had been in contact with fire. And I noticed, the whole thing wasn't new. It seemed to be of ages ago. There were torn marks, broken pieces, but still wholly it was in form. What was this thing? And what did it mean?

Most importantly...Who sent it?

"How are you, sweetheart?" Yvene's mom said from the other side.

"I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking." Trace replied.

"I was, actually, uhh...thinking about talking to you. It's about Yvene."

Trace felt his pulse accelerating. "Is there something wrong, Mrs Veller?"

"No, nothing's wrong. But...I think Yvene's having those hallucinations again."

"Again? Why? I thought she was fine now."

"Yeah, she was. She has been fine since you two got together. But now that you're gone, I think she's having them again."

Trace bit his lip with a cringe in his glance. "Is there something I could do?"

"You know, she had had a rough past. When you came in her life, she finally cured up. She finally learnt to forget. I think, breaking up with you hurt her much more than anything and she's....she's getting sick again." Mrs Veller sounded dull and overcast. "If it's not too much to ask, then...Trace, I want you to get back with her. This is what is best for her. And I know you care for her, dear. So I'm asking for this favor."

Trace didn't know what to say. What Yvene's mom just said, Trace wanted that. He wanted that so bad. And even if he didn't love her so much, which he did without caring for his own life, he would still help her with every might he had. And he wouldn't miss any single chance to get closer to her. And when the love of his life was in danger and the thing that would save her was to keep her close to himself, God couldn't have possibly done him a better favor. But the issue was that, did Yvene feel the same way he did?

The guy, covered in black, walked past her house after having taken a glance of the window upstairs...
