Waking up, I glanced around solemnly and noticed how dark it was. Sitting up and grabbing my backpack swiftly, I quietly and slowly started heading home on foot.
I didn’t have that dream this time but all I could think about was the dream and two questions I didn’t know the answer to; ‘What is everyone's worst fears or nightmares?’, ‘What if they came true?’ I knew that a dream couldn’t come true, or at least so I thought.
Walking along the road, the streetlights light was illuminating little spots of the sidewalk, leaving the rest of the world as dark and mysterious as could be. Suddenly, I heard it, a loud rustling in a nearby bush. Stopping dead in my tracks I spun around and looked around fearfully. What was it? I don’t know. I saw something shiny in the bush but it quickly disappeared into the night. I saw a figure quickly run and disappear into the night as well, I could only see the bodies outline. No details.
I started running, breathing heavily in fear. I could hear heavy footsteps behind me, at times I could even hear something heavy dragging or hitting against the ground. It was a sound that not even a serial killer would want to hear when they were going home in the middle of the night.
I ran as fast as I could, dodging benches in my way. I almost reached my street but I tripped over a beer bottle. Lying there, I could hear the mysterious person coming closer and close, dragging whatever it was they had behind them on the cement.
Frozen in complete fear I didn’t move. I couldn’t even think. My life started flashing before my eyes, I was scared and suddenly, I noticed the figure slowly walking towards me.
From the body outline, I could tell the person was tall and a male by how short the hair was. I saw something being dragged behind him. I thought I was dreaming until he walked beneath the streetlight, he was as real as ever. I suddenly got a burst of energy and quickly stumbled up off the ground and started running at full speed, not picking my backpack up. A picture of the man was burned into my mind. His short hair was as dark as the night and swept to the side, slightly covering his ears and his eyes. He had piercing blue eyes and a fairly light skin tone, which was very pale, but not ghostly looking. He was very attractive and looked like he was around my age.
Losing sight of where I was going, I darted into the woods hoping that I would somehow be able to escape from him. He continued to chase after me; I could no longer hear whatever it was that had been dragged along the ground earlier. I had guessed he threw it away or hid it somewhere.
I just continued to run, tripping over my feet and tree roots every now and then. Finally I stopped and looked behind me, the boy wasn’t behind me anymore. Turning around quietly and cautiously, I started slowly walking. I had absolutely no clue where I was, or what direction I was going in. I didn’t know which way would lead me to safety, or which way would surely lead me to my gruesome demise. My legs were tired, my knees were bruised and my skinny jeans were ripped from falling as much as I had.
I came to a small open clearing and looked around, I noticed a small little building that looked like a shed, but larger by a couple feet in width. I knew I shouldn’t go over to it, but I did. I had always seen people get attacked and die in the horror movies in this kind of situation, but I didn’t care at all at this point. I just wanted to get out of here.
Walking to the shed, I quietly opened the door and cringed at the loud and squeaky creaking sound the doors hinges made.
”Hello?” I shouted, my voice cracking in fear. I knew that it would alert that boy if he was around here but I did it any way.
”Is anybody here?”
Slowly, I walked inside. The door quickly slammed shut behind me at random and I heard hurried footsteps in the now darkened shed. Looking around fearfully, I heard him.
