In the bushes, I could hear rustling. Quietly I stood up, wanting to check the noise out.
Being alone in the dark was scary enough, but feeling like you were going to get kidnapped was an even worse feeling. I couldn't shake the fact that I knew what was going to happen.
Walking oustide, I headed across the street, leaving my door wide open. Walking under the street light I glanced around. Suddenly, my heart dropped as I felt someone touching my arm lightly. Turning around panickly, I saw Alex. He looked so marvelously innocent in the moonlight. Confused, I took a couple steps nack, away from him. "What are you doing here?" I couldn't help but stare at him.
He looked at me with a gentle look. "I'm really sorry Alicia." Looking down at the ground, he continued, "My uncle saw me with you. He might attempt to come after you." I could tell that he felt bad. I couldn't stop myself from hugging him.
He hugged back gently, then quickly let me go. I looked him in the eyes, "Do you think you could stay with me for awhile?" Shyly, I looked down at the ground, "I really don't feel safe at all when I'm alone." Alex looked at me and nodded, smiling lightly at me before he spoke, "Of course, I wouldn't want you getting hurt at all or anything." He laughed quietly before continueing on, "Especially with my uncle running around looking for you."
Smiling, I grabbed his hand and started to head back over to my front door and inside.
Walking in to my house, I led Alex in to my living room and sat down on the couch next to him. I was so glad that my parents were still on their business trip.
Glancing at him, I spoke softly, "Do you need anything, Alex?" I then looked at him. He looked as if he both wanted and needed something significantly. Shaking his head, he looked at the ground solemnly. "No, I'm perfectly fine, Alicia."
He had something bothering him, I could unquestionably tell. Those beautiful icey blue eyes of his looked a whole lot colder than ice, and sadder than a mother who'd just lost her child. Looking at him, I spoke gently, "Alex, there's something bothering you, without a doubt." I glanced around for a moment before looking back at him. "Please tell me what's the matter?" Looking up at me, he spoke calmly. "Really, trust me, it's nothing." shrugging, he continued on, "I wouldn't want you to worry about it or-" Before he could finish, I had cut him off. I had no intentions of listening to any of his excuses. "I think that we should go to sleep now." Standing up, I continued, "We both have to wake up rather early." Not hesitating, I grabbed his hand and started for upstairs. I really trusted him enough to not try anything on me.
In the morning, I was already awake. I couldn't find Alex. I had guessed that he left already.
Quietly, I glided down the stairs, not wanting to wake up my neighbours. Getting down the stairs, I grabbed my backpack that was on the floor, against the staircase. Almost tripping as I attempted to grab my skateboard, which was resting against the wall by the front door, I noticed that the wheel, which had been covered in mud from my previous skating adventures, had left a large brown stain on the white wall. Squatting down, I inspected it. "Shit, mums going to kill me!" I started to scratch at the mud on the wall. But that really only made it even worse than it already was. Sighing and standing back up straight, I headed into the kitchen. Grabbing an apple, I heard a car honk outside. Confused, I rushed over to the front door and opened it cautiously, completely un-aware of who could possibly be outside of my house.
Looking out the door, I saw Alex. He waved me over to him. Quickly grabbing my skateboard, I shut my door and rushed over to him, stopping a couple inches away from him. "Alex, what are you doing here?" Looking at him, I continued, "Why and when did you leave?" I sighed. "I got scared when I couldn't find you." Laughing, he down at me before speaking. "Sorry I left earlier than normal." he started moving his stuff off of the passenger seat and setting it in the back of the car. "I wanted to get my car," he looked up from his car at me, "I wouldn't want my uncle trying to kidnap you whilst you walk to school."
Shrugging, I walked around to the back of the car and popped the trunk. Putting my skateboard and backpack in the trunk, I glanced at him real quick before closing the trunk and getting in the front seat of his car. As Alex got in the car and started it, I buckled myself in and we started heading to my school. I looked at him from the corner of my eye. He looked even cooler now than he did before.
Looking out the window, I finally decided to ask him, "Alex, why are you being so nice to me?" I took a quick look at him before continueing on, "We barely even know each other." Looking at me for a quick second, he laughed. "Trust me Alicia, I wouldn't hurt you." Smiling, he turned unto the school parking lot and stopped. "I have my reasons for why I'm treating you as I am." Stopping the car, he looked at me, "I think you should get going, I wouldn't want you being late." Nodding, I got out of the car and retrieved my things from the trunk. Walking over to his side of the car, I looked at him. "Thanks, I guess I'll see you later then." Smiling, he nodded and started his car back up. "I'll see you later then. I'll pick you up after school." With saying that, he started his car back up. Blushing lightly, I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before rushing off to get to my class as he drove away.
I sighed. I couldn't wait to see him again this afternoon!
Turning in to a hallway, I started heading to my homeroom. I really did hope that this day would go by fast, and I had a feeling that today was going to be a pretty damn good day. And luckily, so far, I was right.
