DEREK
My plan went perfectly, I knew she could not resist coming on a night drive with me. I know her too well not too. I'm still surprised she has let my needy nature gone on for so long.
The windows are down and the spring air is warm but crisp. I look over at Nat and she is slightly leaning out the window, with her hair a mess. Her eyes are closed probably cat napping because she has had a long couple of days with the dance show coming up. I look up back at the road. Its empty, the curvy road is comforting.
"Are we almost there?" a small voice sounds from my right side. I look over at her squinky eyes and smile to myself.
"Kind of. I'm just enjoying the drive" She nodded with a smile obviously agreeing with me. " Hey can I ask you something?" I ask.
"Whats up" she responded.
"Have you felt something change recently?"
"Umm what do you mean? Lots of things are changing. Its our senior year, we leave for college in less than six months." She explained.
"No a different change. Like us change" I said.
"We have spent more time together" she responded with a smile. "Yeah and are you okay with that?" I asked.
Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?"
Before I can answer something catches my eye. I look up to see that it is a full moon out tonight. Its light is illuminating the street below; out shining all the stars. It sucks me into its power. I feel as though the moon is targeting me. I had never seen the moon so big before how can something be so engulfing.
"DEREK!" Natalie screams shoving me back into reality. I look forward and see two head lights shining at me.
It was the last thing I saw, but not what I remembered. The lights came at me but the moon never left my mind.
