You'd be amazed what kind of things you can figure out about something when they're drunk.
After skiing, we were all too exhausted to do anything interesting or exciting, so we had dinner in the lodge and decided to hang out in the living room and drink a little wine. Somehow, Sam and Eleanor found out about our lodge, my guess it was James since he and Eleanor had a past, and they showed up, knocking on our door as if we actually wanted them here.
"Hey!" Eleanor cheered as she pushed through the front door and hugged me. Of course, just as enthusiastically, I hugged her back, hiding my anger quite well. "I heard you guys were having a little rendezvous and figured we'd pop by!" She said, leading the rest of her group inside.
Hale smiled as his eyes met mine, and I moved closer to him. "Hey," I said, ignoring Sam who walked right by me.
"Hey," Hale and I said at the same time. We didn't say anything more, simply stared at one another, until someone's arm came around my shoulders.
"What's up man?" Kyle asked, his hand extended in a fist. Hale cleared his throat and bumped his fist.
"Nothin' much."
"Come on! We were just about to pull out the vodka." He said, leading me away.
"You're so irritating," I mumbled under my breath. He kissed the side of my head and whispered into my ear.
"The only person you are going to fuck on this trip is me." I laughed at what clearly was a joke.
"Sweety, I'll sleep with you the day you take me seriously," I said, my tone carefree as I moved out of his grip. I could feel the frown of confusion staring at my back as I moved to sit on the couch, taking the bottle of wine from Jenny, who was pushed under Michael's arm.
"And you say I'm oblivious." She muttered, grinning at me. I furrowed my brows in an expression similar to that of Kyle's but forgot all about it once the wine touched my lips.
I felt someone's gaze on me, and for a second I thought it was Hale, or maybe even Samantha, but this time it was Lucas. It was the first time he bothered to acknowledge my presence without my instigation. I raised a brow, silently asking what he was doing. He nudged his chin to the side and stood up. "I'll be right back." He said, leaving the room.
I waited a couple of seconds before speaking, "We need more drinks!" I said, standing up and following Lucas. I found him in the hallway underneath the stairs, leaning against the wall looking all brooding and dark, like the night I first met him.
"Lucas," I sighed, "What can I do for you?"
"Heather is freaking out, and you're the reason." I tilted my head in confusion. "She is so worried that you're going to outs us that her hair is falling out, her skin is breaking out, and she won't touch me. I need your word that you won't say a word. To anyone." I tilted my head in oblivious innocence.
"I don't understand. She loves you. I'm not trying to get in the way of that. Especially if you love her." I said slowly creeping forward. He narrowed his eyes.
"I love her." He said, eyes narrowed and cold, completely bullshitting me.
"As more... than a brother?" I asked, stepping into his comfort zone, I looked up at him, a smirk lining my lips as my hand trailed down his chest.
He didn't answer.
"I think, you're just using her to get back at your dad," I whispered, stretching out his shirt and brushing away imaginary dirt.
"How do you know about my dad?" He said quietly.
"I think," I began again ignoring him, "That she grew attached, even though you're only in it for the fuck." I leaned up. "I think you're a bit of a perv because you're fucking your half sister for shits and giggles when she's probably not even that good of a lay." My lips grazed his neck, very aware of the hands now on my waist. "I think, you're craving a little more than a little Heather," I said, skimming my lips against his. His breath shook against mine.
"Oh, so you do that with him, but I'm off limits," Kyle said, his voice sounding offended. I rolled my eyes and moved out of Lucas' embrace. Kyle had his arms crossed over his chest, leaning on the wall in the hallway.
"You are such a cock block, Kyle." I walked. "Don't worry Lucas, I'll keep your nasty little secret." Once next to Kyle I said under my breath, "Even if there won't be a secret to keep after this trip."
Kyle raised a brow looking over at Lucas, who simply watched us walk to the kitchen. "You gonna tell me?" He followed me and leaned against the counter as I looked through the cupboards.
"No, the surprise will make it all the more delicious." I reached up to grab the vodka but a body pressed behind me and grabbed it first.
"It's not exactly fun watching you act like that with other guys, Jade." He whispered into my ear, sending chills down my body.
"Don't be a hypocrite, Kyle," I said, pushing myself against the counter and tilting my head to let him go at my neck.
"Do you have any idea how long I've gone without a lay?" He said, pushing his crotch against my ass but I rolled my eyes.
"I don't care, hop off it." I moved out of his grip, taking the bottle with me. "You don't take me seriously, you sleep around more than anyone else I know, more than me and that's saying something," I told him. "Obviously, a boyfriend is something I'm interested in, and until you see me as more than a lay and actually put in the effort, then all I'm going to be to you is a tease." I kissed his cheek. "Nothing more, nothing less." I made my way to the door. "And until something changes with you and how you see us, then you can't tell me who I can and can't fuck."
And with that, I slammed the kitchen door behind me with my foot.
