ChaLo, again isn't her real name, it's just what a selected few have decided to call her, because for some reason, calling people by their real names seems absurd. Everyone gets along with her and she is a little ray of sunshine. She and I are really close, and she's the gremlin that Livia grew fond of. ChaLo knows exactly how to smile, what kind of small talk to make and she connects with everyone she meets and instantly makes them love her.
She is quiet around just about everyone, but the kind of quiet that is comfortable and she isn't really shy, just observant. Growing up, I was an idiot, and pretty self centred, she was whom I would call my 'best friend' through those years and for three years it never occurred to me to actually care about her. Yes, I know, I was terrible. But soon I started to notice that she had a wonderful personality and when she chose to speak or assert herself, you would immediately know it was something important.
ChaLo had this way of talking to people and being around them that amplified their personality, who they were. So when she was with you, you would somehow just enjoy yourself and never once even think about 'finding yourself', when you were with her, you were who you were.
However, Chalo is still a person, and people have problems. She never talked about them, no matter how bad and people just wrongly assumed she didn't have any. I think that now she's opened up to me and another human and is starting to realise she actually matters and we care about who she is.
Even if it is a bit late, I'm trying to get to know her deeper than just on the surface and hopefully I'll try to be the fabulous friend she has been for me. Try not to take your friends for granted, because those of them who seem to be living the perfect life probably aren't.
