Chapter One||Screw What's RightI pushed open the door and ran out. I hated myself for that. Not because I couldn't control it, but because I sort of liked it.
I was pitch black out, and I could barely see while I ran. I turned a corner and bolted past sketchy looking men. I met a wall and yelled, "Fuck!"
I turned around, going to run, but remember those sketchy men? Yeah, they had me cornered.
"Get away from me," I warned. I didn't want to hurt anybody else.
"Not a chance, girlie," one of them grinned.
"Please. I don't want to hurt anybody else," I said in a panicked voice. They just laughed. "Please!" I yelled, bringing my hands up to cover my face. Sparks flew out of my palms and the sketchy men got a good nap, if you know what I mean. I knocked them unconscious.
I lowered my hands and cautiously looked at what I did. It felt good, using this power I have.
Hurting people, you mean.
Someone was standing there, and I saw an EX carved into their chest. I knew exactly who they were.
"You're the Executor," I said, startled by my own voice. The Executor was one of the city's worst bad guys. Knowing what he's like, he's either here to kill me or recruit me.
He nodded. "That I am,"
Fear whispered away, and it was like my heart hardened. "What the hell do you want?" I hissed.
"Feisty, are we?" He smirked. "I just want to say you have great potential. And I could teach you to control that power,"
"Not interested," I sneered, going to walk past him. He grabbed my arm.
"But I think you are. I could send my men after you again when they wake up. To finish the job,"
"You brought them here?" I exclaimed, ripping my arm away from his grasp.
He nodded. "I've been keeping a close eye on you for the past few months. This was just a test, to see if you're really as powerful as those scientists say,"
"Well, we're you satisfied?" I barked.
He grinned. "I certainly was, Summer,"
Why the hell does everybody know my name now?
"Nice to know. Now, if you'll excuse me-"
"No I will not,"
I glared at him. "You just want to use my power to take over or some shit. Why would I help you?"
"Because," He said, then lowered his voice. "I know you liked hurting them. They deserved it. Just like those scientists who gave you the power, and the robbers who almost killed you. And Arielle, for just laughing before they almost killed you. They all deserve it. And you want to make them pay, right?"
I backed up. "Woah there Lassy. I don't want to hurt Arielle,"
"You should," he replied. "She could've done something. But she didn't. Now you have these powers,"
I looked at him hard, and he cracked a boyish grin. "So... taking my offer?"
I pondered on it. I did want revenge, even if it wasn't right.
Finally, I said, "Screw what's right. I'm in,"
