aria mckeller walked into the high school. the air conditioning blasted her with a cool breeze, sending a shiver up her spine. a small smile played on her face, her eyes sparkling.

aria had gotten dressed up for the occasion. it has her first day of her senior year. to everyone else, they were already in their third week. she missed the entire eleventh grade, the "junior experience." she closed her eyes, smiling, and walked right into her first high school friend.

carden was mad. he had gotten a b on one of his first tests of the year. he had the worst math teacher in the grade, and so far, she hated him she was the only teacher ever to hate him. ms. bynes. she was an old, unmarried teacher who hated just about everyone, carden included.

carden had been angrily storming across the building, ready to fight his teacher. there was no way he could have gotten a b. he never got b's. he never even failed a quiz.

aria's frail body practically bounced off of carden, landing flat on her back, the breath knocked out of her. her books scattered across the floor, hitting the lockers.

aria's eyes widened, as she moved her body back, not wanting to anger the boy more. she opened her mouth to apologize, but no words came out.

she finally met his eyes, a piercing blue. he turned around, and walked away, but not after giving her a glimpse of a smile.

aria grabbed her books, standing up abruptly, looking around to see if anyone was watching. nobody was, except for one girl that caught her eye.

the girl was blonde, pretty, but normal. everyone in this building seemed normal. it may have been because everyone in the hospitals were very different, but here, everyone was the same.

aria approached the girl, not sure of what else to do.

"hi, i'm aria. this is my first day here. i was wondering of you could show me to room G104, ms. bynes' room?" aria pointed at her map, showing the girl where on the map it was.

"sure! that's actually my next class. i'm bailey. but i'd watch out, because your new 'friend' is in that class too. follow me." bailey shrugged and started walking.

aria nodded and followed bailey, happy to have made a friend.
