Prologue
I knew I had been smiling like an idiot, but who wouldn't when Anderi Lupisescu had just kissed you? I had never thought nor dreamt that out of all the girls at our school, he would choose me. I mean, of course I dreamt it, but I never thought it would actually happen. He chose me, the shy plain Jane whose nose is usually stuck in a book, out of all the beautiful and popular girls. I wasn't complaining, of course.
We had just spent the evening at the diner, drinking our milkshakes and just talking away. He listened to me as I spoke and I listened as he spoke, his Romanian accent still thick as his beautiful lashes that framed his eyes. Okay, maybe I wasn't completely listening. But, you can't blame a girl for admiring a beautiful hunk like Anderi.
Even at the tender age of sixteen, he had broad shoulders and was a little over six feet tall. I'd never seen him shirtless, but the shirts he wore didn't leave much to imagination. And, with his thick black hair and warm brown eyes, sharp features, and the slight stubble on his jaw he looked a lot older than his sixteen-year-old self. In a very, very good way.
After the night had ended, we walked back to my house. He would do this every single time. No matter how far the distance, he would walk me home, right to my door, give me a hug goodnight, and walk back to his house – which was on the other side of town; the richer side.
But, this night it was different. He walked me home, as always, but instead of a hug, he held my hands and looked me deep in my eyes.
"I know I shouldn't do this, but I cannot help myself." He mumbled, almost to himself.
"Do what, Anderi?" I asked in a small voice, breathless during his intense stare.
"I don't know what it is, there is just something about you..." He ignored my question and continued in his quiet mumbled. His words caused my cheeks to warm, and my heartbeat to quicken.
"Anderi?"
"I'm going to kiss you now, Annabeth" His eyes were on my lips, and they sudden felt very dry. I swept my tongue across my bottom lip. His eyes narrowed, as a predator would at its prey. I leaned a bit closer, giving him my permission, and I swear, his eyes glowed amber. But, before I could give that thought any heed, his lips were on me.
Nothing could prepare me for that kiss. Nothing. I felt tingles down my back, and a shiver ran through me as Andrei placed a firm hand on the small of my back and other on my cheek as he deepened the kiss. The kiss started out as soft, and sweet. But, the second I opened my mouth and gave him access, it turned passionate. As if, we were both thirsty travelers in a dry desert and we were each other's oases.
I don't know how long the kiss lasted, it could have been ten seconds or ten minutes, but when he slowly pulled away I knew it wasn't long enough. I let out a small groan, and he chuckled.
"There will be more of where that came from, My Love." His voice rasp from our kiss, sent shivers of pleasure down my back. But, his words brought heat to my cheeks, I covered my face embarrassed. Anderi took my hands and gently pushed them away, all the while keeping his other hand firm on my hips keeping me in his arms. Nothing has ever felt so right and perfect.
"Don't be embarrassed, Fructul meu interzis, it is not your fault that I am so irresistible" He said with a smirk on his all too beautiful face. My eyes narrowed.
"Okay, I'm going to ignore your very egotistical comment right there and instead ask, what did you just call me?" A look crossed over him, longing, but why would he be longing for me when he had me. He smiled softly.
"The next time we meet; I will tell you." He leaned down and kissed my lips softly.
What I didn't know was that I would never see him after that night. Not for years.
