She knelt before the altar in the temple of her childhood.
"Hello Father.
How are things going in heaven? Good I hope. I'm going to be making a journey soon. One I hope you can be proud of"
She looked to the urn above her, adjusting the weaponry she had prepared for the journey soon ahead.
"I've been training. I surpassed all my teachers. Soon I'll be going down. That dream you had. 'My daughter, the greatest sole adventurer to face the trials of the Labyrinth. One day leaving, to return with greatest lost treasure; the wings of a fallen angel.' I'm on my way."
She stood, giving a smile to the urn before leaving. Her iron heels tapped loudly against the marble church floor. A Priest in trodden Robes passed her to Prepare the altar for their next visitor.
A Priest in silk and lace bowed to her as she passed him.
"Your visit went well Lady Juul?"
She nodded to him in response.

The Streets of Zhongguó were a long, Confusing maze. Even living there forever one could take a wrong turn and get lost. The country of a city was laced in tales and ruins, and in the center of it all, The Temple of the Labyrinth.
It was long forgotten who had built it (there were so many Temples) but the building itself stood strong. Cared for by the Government and the Church, the temple was a symbol now. A symbol of high praise, of bravery, of justice, and to those that challenge the state a symbol of fear.
Below it's marble gloss and house of glory and praise was a cave, a Labyrinth of unending maze to parallel the surface. Inside were creatures of fear. Monsters and Fiends that only got stronger the further in you ventured. Yet in each danger there lay equal, if not more, reward.
Those that broke the laws, those that were unfaithful. They were banished deep within.
Those that sought glory in wealth and battle stepped in the front Door.
Lady Karren Juul, be careful.

Karren entered, alone but prepared. The the first floor never seemed to end, traveling mercilessly on until she found the stairs. The dark and damp cave lit only by light words of a weak spell. Fiends that were a nuisance.
The cave seemed to become more beautiful, then became cold, further and further down until the cold was all encompassing, ice cracked under her boots, and heated up, further down and she had abandoned the ice only to walk on hot sands and pools of lava.

It felt like weeks, (and it may have been, it was hard to keep track of time so far down). Karren had entered floor 37, to find it lush and well grown. Bushes and flowers grew from the floors, from the walls, a few even on the ceiling. She found herself on occasion having to stop and admire a bush of marigolds, or an arrangement of lilies, as well as ask herself how plants can even grow down here with such a lack of sunshine.
She was at a bush of strawberries happily munching away when she heard the ruffles of feathers. Turning with her sword drawn rather than the Roc or Harpy she expected to see was a man.
He wasn't particularly handsome, but the point of interest were the Feathers, rustling in the wings on his back.
"Hi"
She held the tip of her blade at his throat. This couldn't possibly be an Angel could it?
"Umm... you like my garden?"
Karren glared at him. What did this thing think it was doing?
"What are you?" More a demand than a request.
"An angel. Why?"
"You don't look like one"
He stared at her in what could only be interpreted as confusion, then realization.
"Oh, you're looking for the corrupt."
"Corrupt?"
"Statics" ah, yes. There was a word she recognized. It was a slang for the angels, for the reports and horror tales described them as 'vaguely human shapes with great wings made of the noise on your broken TV and the layers of the wrong channel that was taken down.'
"So you're an Angel but you don't look like one?"
"If that's how you want to view it I guess."
She watched him a bit longer.
"you're still a suitable trophy"
"you're a treasure hunter?"
"I'm not any other trophy hunter or adventurer! I'm the strongest sole adventurer to enter this forsaken cave!"
"Oh? And what would be the name of this great adventurer?"
"what?"
"a dead man's last wish? could I know your name?"
"Uh... Lady  Karren Juul"
"Karren Juul" he spoke the words slowly, as if he were tasting them like a fine wine.
"A beautiful name. I'd ask no other name of such a beautiful swordstress"
What. wait, was he flirting with her?
"you're. what? Are you trying to flirt with me?"
He was silent a moment
"yes?"
"but I just told you I was gonna kill you"
"I couldn't possibly hope to beat your skills in battle but you seem like a nice person. Very 'Lawful Good'"
Karren stared at the man for a while before letting out a laugh sheathing her blade.
"So what's your name?"
"Rowen. So I take it you're not going to kill me?"

"No plans on it anymore. so any chance you got something I could heal up with? I used my last potion on the last level and I'm out of magic"
"Sure, you can stay at my house"
