Forgotten Promise

"Kenma!" I shouted to a shy boy in the sand box. He look up, staring at me stretching out his palm to cover the light coming from the sun. Sobrang ganda talaga ng mga malapusa niyang mga mata.

"I told you don't call such names." He shyly reply.

"I like to call you that. And I want to be the only one who calls you that name!" I giggle after saying that. I really like calling him that name. Kasi real name niya Ken Maximo. So naisip ko Ken-Ma.

"Fine. But don't shout it out so loud. Its kind of embarrassing." He sighed at me then continue his sand castle, but for real it looks like shit.

'Ano ba nakakahiya sa Kenma?!'

"You know you should really have to learn how to speak Filipino. Your giving me hard time learning to speak in English straight. I don't want to be the one adjusting situations." I hiss helping him in his work.

Glad to tell you that he is my bestfriend. Atleast, he is the only friend I've got. I really don't interact with others. I'm not good in people but I always thought of what they think of me. Akala mo kung sinong mga perpekto.

Kenma is the only kid who don't judge people. Well actually he don't care at all. Our moms just met for few months and then introduced us with one another then BLAM! We're friends.

"I'm hungry. Lets get something to eat." The kid with braces stands up brushing off the sand in his palm.

"Just be honest that you suck in doing this shit. Don't make excuses." I follow him not minding the mess in my skirt.

"Shut up. Your worst in doing that."

'We really get along don't we?'

"Yeah whatever. By the way, does your mom know what happened yesterday?"

That question made him pause. Even though he's not looking at me I know he had a sad face.

"No. Not yet. And I have no plans telling her." He ran off leaving me in the middle of the park screaming his name.

Well, he really is a weak kid. He easily cries and just run off. Many kids taller and stronger than us always pick on him.

I really hate bullies. Kenma never fight back, he just let them. But me, I break the nose of the fat one yesterday. I'm glad my cousin taught me some taekwondo moves last month and greatly used it in this kind of situation.

A drop of liquid makes me shiver. Its already raining hard when I ran home.

"Mom! I'm soaking wet!" I shouted inside standing in the front door.

A woman in mid 30's dash in the corridor. Looking a bit angry.

"Where the he--- where did you go young lady?!" She snatch a towel in a near closet. Her concern takes place rather than anger.

"I'm with Kenma playing in the park." I answer back. Kita mo! Dahil sa kakaEnglish ko pati sa bahay yun na din nagagamit ko.

Well my mom and I practice speaking in English because of her work and because of Kenma's family, since their 'friends'.

"I already told you its raining season so bring with you an umbrella." I just rolled my eyes as she fry--- I mean DRY my hair using the soft cloth.

"Go get a shower." she commanded. Pinatuyo buhok ko tapos papaliguin ako. Edi nabasa ulet.

"Wait! I'll call Kenma first, just to make sure he got home safe."
