Happy Birthday

Being in a secret relationship with someone is difficult. Especially when you know you are just the second option, that you are not number one.

Oikawa Tooru sighed to himself. His situation was becoming difficult. Tobio was spending less time with him and more time with Hinata. Not like he had the right to be jealous. Tobio only valued him for his body after all.

"Oikawa-san." Tobio called out, snapping his senpai out of his train of thoughts. It was 9 in the evening when Tobio decided to drop by Oikawa's house. He hadn't passed by for quite a long time.

"You're late tonight." The brunet gave a knowing smile. Kageyama was most likely with Hinata the whole time. Just the thought makes him cringe. What was it that Hinata had that he didn't? Why was he always number two? Why couldn't Tobio love him and him only?

"Yeah. I actually want to talk about something." Tobio leaned against the wall, his head facing the ground.

Oikawa somewhat knew what Tobio was going to say. Why today of all days? His head was spinning, he didn't know what to feel. Tobio hadn't even said a word yet.

"I decided that it's not fair to be in a relationship with two people. I knew it was wrong all along. So now I need to choose." The ravenet shifted his position, tenseness filled the air. He tried to look his senpai in the eye but reverted his gaze soon after.

"Oh? And what was your decision?" The older boy gave off that cheerful tone. Although it was a facade. He knew that Tobio was cutting him off, slowly but surely. That's what made it hurt more. Why couldn't Tobio just choose him?

"Oikawa-san..." Tobio left the sentence hanging for an awkward while "I'm breaking up with you." The Karasuno setter breathed a sigh of relief as he let out what he wanted to say.

"Tobio you idiot." Oikawa chuckled to himself. He needed to hide the pain, the shame of not being chosen. "We never really were going out to begin with." The brunet claimed as he threaded his fingers through his hair.

"Oh... I see... I'll be leaving now then. Goodbye, Oikawa-san." Tobio gave a smile as he shut the door behind himself.

That's when the tears started falling. Oikawa caressed his forehead as if to soothe himself.

"I knew this was coming..." The brunet sniffles. "But why today of all days?" He laughed to himself. This was certainly the best birthday ever.
