"This song is called i'm so sad, so very very sad ♪♪SO SAD♪♪ thank you this next song is called we hate you please die." You groaned and felt around for your phone. You turned off the alarm and looked at the time; 6 am.
"It's too early to get up." You groaned, letting your head fall back onto the pillow. Remembering that school was a thing, you rolled your eyes. The old motel bed groaned in protest as you reluctantly slithered out to get ready for the day. New school, same routine, you thought.
You grew up living on the road with your Aunt Sam, and she taught you everything you needed to know...about monster hunting at least. Aunt Sam said that you had been improving a lot but you knew that you were sub-par at best. You were too afraid to look in the mirror when it was dark and you couldn't shoot a monster if your life depended on it - which it had on multiple occasions.
Already up and dressed, Aunt Sam spoke up from the small coffee table that stood near the window, not looking up from her newspaper.
"Morning sleeping beauty. You ready for your first day of school?" Drowsily, you trudged over to the bathroom sink - which was exposed to the rest of the room - and began to go through your morning routine.
"You know I'm not. Find any ads looking for a ragtag duo of monster hunters?"
You could almost hear her eyes roll, "Haha, very funny."
Once you were done getting ready, you snatched up some of the leftovers from the mini fridge and ate on your twin sized bed. Looking over at Aunt Sam, you took in the tired bags under her eyes; the way her body seemed to sag as if she was carrying an invisible weight.
You just recently settled down in Norrisville. The town had always been on our watch list; the activity always spiking through out the year. It's never gotten to a dangerous level, the tales of an 800 year old ninja protecting the town and it's people, but Aunt Sam has been getting more paranoid recently. The stress and anxiety was clearly taking a toll on her and you were seriously worried about her. Before you could bring the subject up, you noticed the time.
"Crud! I'd better leave now or I'm going to be late," Throwing on your backpack and snatching your skateboard, you swung the door open, "Bye Aunt Sam! Love you!"
"Helmet." She said back and you smiled sheepishly. Quickly slipping on your helmet, you almost ran out the door when Aunt Sam interrupted you again. "One more thing."
"Aunt Sam I'm gonna be-" She pulled you into a hug. You smiled and hugged her back.
"Love you too, sweetheart."
This time you did get out the door and shut it behind you. Kicking off your skateboard, you headed in the direction of Norrisville High and hoped you didn't get lost.
Today seemed like it wasn't going to be terrible. The wind was breezing around your face, the air was sort of fresh, and at the speed you were going, you probably wouldn't be late for school. Yeah I probably just jinxed i-, your thoughts were interrupted by two shoobs arguing with each other. One was short, plump and had bright orange hair that could rival a pumpkin. The other one was lanky and had dark black hair - no that wasn't it, maybe a really dark brown.
"I'm telling you Cunningham," the short one said, "McSugerbombs are better!"
"What! No way! McCrisps are the cheese!" the tall one - supposedly Cunningham - said, waving his arms dramatically. You skated around them as to not interrupt their very important conversation; a small smile gracing your face as you were reminded of the stupid arguments you and your friends would have.
You got to school 2 minutes before your first period. With no time to find your locker and no lingering students to help you find your class, you took a guess, trudged upstairs and took a right. Luck apparently was on your side because there stood room 221b in all it's glory. Opening the door as unnoticeably as you could, you let out a small sigh of relief as the teacher didn't seem to notice you yet. You were about to walk fully into the room when yelling sounded from behind you. You whipped your head around just in time to see two speeding figures crash into you.
The late bell went off and you groaned in pain, face planted into the floor. Not noticing that they had crashed into you nor that they had dog piled you, the two boys celebrated their apparent victory.
"Yes! Not late!"
"Which means no detention!"
Ah, the two boys from earlier, you thought. Hearing the clacking of shoes and wheels?, you assumed the teacher had walked up to the human pile on the floor.
"That was cutting it pretty close, boys. But I guess you are technically not late." Growing annoyed you spoke up, your voice slightly muffled.
"That's great and all, but could you please get off of me? My spine is going to break if you lay on me any longer." As if just noticing you existed, they jumped off of you. Standing up, you dusted yourself off and did a quick scan over the class. Everyone was staring at you. So much for going unnoticed.
Instead of apologizing like a decent human being, the pumpkin-haired kid asked, "Who are you?"
You picked up your skateboard, an annoyed scowl tugging at your lips. "I'm the new kid."
Cunningham noticed your skateboard, "You do realize we have lockers, right?"
Smiling tightly, you turned to the teacher. "Is it assigned seating or can I sit wherever?" She seemed to be shaken out of her slight daze as she told you you could sit where you wanted. Grumpily taking a seat at the back of the class, you took a breath and calmed yourself down. Not the best first day of school, you thought, but I've had worse.
