I woke up in a room filled with beds and medics treating patients. I tried to sit up but got light headed and had to lay back down.
Connor came around the corner and I tried to sit up again but he held his hand up and signaled for me to lay back down. I just propped myself up on one arm."Drink this," he said, handing me a blue drink.
"Ohh-kay," I said, taking a swig of the drink thinking for a second that it might be poisoned but It tasted surprisingly good, so I then took a big sip of it.
Connor grabbed the drink out of my hand and laughed."Whoa! don't drink too much of that or you will burn up, literally!"
I guess I had a puzzled look on my face, he went on to explain that what I was drinking was nectar, the drink of the gods. If a demigod drinks too much they will burn up, literally.
I began to feel better and Connor said it was almost dinner time so he asked me if I felt like going to dinner with the rest of camp. With the thought of running out of my mind because I was hungry, I told Connor I would walk to dinner with him. He helped me out of the bed and let me lean on him as we walked to what he called the dining pavilion. Connor said I could sit at the Hermes cabin table with him since his dad didn't care about whom he sponsored.
I sat down next to Connor and Apollo (the dog) came and sat down at my feet. Once the food was served Connor told me that we had to throw a bit of the food, preferably the best of the food, into the fire as an offering to the gods because they liked the smell...? I was confused until I actually smelled the food burning. It smelled delicious and made my mouth water. Once I sat back down I dug in. Having not had that big of a meal in a long time. And it tasted wonderful.
After dinner centaur man who introduced himself as Chiron told Connor to show me around camp. He took me to the cabins first. All 12 of them were beautiful, but the cabin for Artemis was my personal favorite. The ceiling of the cabin was an exact replica of the night sky. I have always been fond of the night sky but, I am named after the Titan of constellations so, I guess that makes sense. After touring the cabins, Connor took me to a pile of rocks in the camp woods called Zeus' fist. He said that it had been one of the entrances to the Labyrinth before it had crumbled a year ago.
We sat on top of the rocks looking at the night sky in silence. Beautiful silence. I would have never even heard the monster coming if it hadn't broken a twig. The monster must have been hiding in the shadows, I had been scanning the woods thinking that someone might be out there when it charged. I think the right word to call it is a "Chimera". It charged straight at Connor who was still idiotically staring at the sky. My mind was racing and in a quick second I knew what I had to do. I used my powers and slowed down time. I mean I slowed down everything around me, but not myself. It's... kind of hard to explain. Anyway, I pushed Connor out of the way and he fell (slo-mo style) off the rocks. Then, I walked out of harm's way, snapped my fingers, and time went back to normal.
The chimera crashed into the rocks then was quickly mad at me. It started to turn and prepare itself to charge when my pocket watch began to feel heavy in my pocket.
"Use the Watch," a cold voice said in my head.
I listened and took the watch out of my pocket.
"Click the button," said the voice.
I listened again and clicked the button on the side of my watch that I thought was useless, it looked frozen and was surprisingly cold. Now if there is anything Supernatural has taught me it's that I shouldn't listen to random voices but I was desperate. I expected nothing to happen, but before I knew what I was seeing, I had a sword in my hand. It was Celestial bronze. I knew what it was because I am kind of a mythology nerd. The handle of the sword was pure gold with another gold band that wrapped around it. Where the blade met the handle was my pocket watch. I was still admiring the sword when the chimera charged. It managed to make a swipe at my leg and ripe my jean leg. and make a good-sized cut, too. The cut hurt, and I couldn't put much weight on it. I had to fight back but I couldn't figure out how. The Chimera turned to charge again, but this time I let it run so close to me, I could probably touch it. Right before we made contact, I jumped to the side turning towards the chimera. I brought my sword up then shoved it down, cutting off the chimera's serpent tail. It yowled in pain and began to charge at me for the third time but this time I was prepared.I jumped to the side and turned just in time to make a direct blow to the head. I pulled my sword up and slammed it down just in time to cut off its head. The Chimera evaporated into black dust.
I clicked the watch-part of my new sword and it turned back into a pocket watch. I looked up to find Connor staring at me idiotically. I mean, seriously, what is wrong with this guy and staring idiotically.
"What, never seen a girl single handedly take down a Chimera before?" I said smirking and limping past him.
I had nearly gotten to the end of the woods when Connor finally caught up to me.
"Explain!!" he screamed.
"I just saved your life" I replied, smirking.
"Y-You have powers... like.." He stammered.
"Yea so?" I asked.
"Come with me" Connor said in an extremely serious voice.
Connor grabbed my arm but I pulled it away from him but followed him to the campfire that I had seen earlier. Everyone was sitting around it and roasting marshmallows. But let me just say one thing. The campfire was magnificent, with shades of purple and orange mixed together. Connor hollered to get everyone's attention. Once everyone was looking, he told me to tell them what happened. So I did.
"I was at Zeus's fist when a hydra walked out of the woods. It had a ton of heads, so I grabbed a branch off the tree and used it to cut off the hydra's heads while I summoned fire in my other hand and-"
"Krios that's not what happened." Connor said, annoyed.
"Okay so maybe that's story is a bit different than what actually happened today. Why don't you tell what actually happened just now." I replied in a sarcastic tone.
Connor went on to tell everyone what had actually happened and everyone's eyes were directed toward him. Until someone gasped.
Sorry if this chapter has a lot of mistakes I was watching Supernatural while editing it, but nevertheless it's definitely one of my favorite chapters and was really fun to write.- pluto
