Chapter 2 - You Egotistical Jerk

Chloe's POV:

After what felt like years sleeping, I eventually woke up to find in reality, I was only asleep for about 3 hours. With my headphones now playing some 5 Seconds Of Summer, I reluctantly take them out to find that my parents are eerily quiet for a car journey.

Eager to find out why we were in this awkward silence, I leaned forwards, so my head was in between the drivers and passenger seat and said "Hey mum, why are you two so quiet?"

Her head twisted round to get a good look at me and replied "Well honey, we didn't want to wake you as we felt that you needed some beauty sleep before going to Uni, as you never know, you may want to impress a certain someone." When she finished she pinched my cheeks as if I were a 2 year old causing me to blush once I had processed what she had said.

"MUM!!!" I shrieked, causing dad to swerve slightly into the lane next to us before swiftly correcting it.

"You know, I thought you would have noticed by now that boys avoid me like the plague, and if they even bothered to notice me, it would most likely end with them never wanting to talk to me again as they would be bored to death by me, or want to run away from me."

"Sweetheart, don't say that, I am sure that boys notice you all of the time, it's just that you seem to have a.. way with your words, shall I say" my mother tried to explain without trying to come across too harsh. Well hell she did.

I tried to pull my most confused expression I could whilst saying "what are you trying to say mum, please elaborate on my "way with words".

"Well, sometimes, you can tend to get a bit carried away with what you are saying, and not realise that you have a 'hot mouth'". She explained putting her soft, manicured hand on my shoulder.

Yes, I admit that I can get a little snappy at times, but it's only when I am talking to someone I don't like, or they are rude to me. I don't understand why girls don't want to be friends with me, I mean, I'm not that bad to be around? Am I? Also, it would be nice maybe once in a while to be recognised by boys. I'm not the ugliest person on the planet, but certainly not the prettiest by far. My platinum blonde hair which matched my mothers reached all the way down to my butt in a cascade of soft waves. I had eyes that matched my fathers which were an olive green and my button nose neither of them had.

I huffed and sat back into my seat, not wanting to hear whatever else my mum has to say about me, I put my earbuds back in and chose Bastille - Of the night, humming the tune and awaiting to see the sign for the uni which shouldn't be too much longer.

-

Half an hour later, we arrived at the university entrance with a large sign stating that this was indeed The Hill's University on California. I rolled myeyes at the thought of all of these stuck up, snobby students arriving in groups, filing to the main office trying to find out who their roommate is.

"Honey, would you like to come with us now to my office and settle in later?" My mother asked politely.

"Actually, I was hoping if I could just go to the main office, and try and blend in with everyone else, not trying to be rude here, but I don't really want to be known as the Headmasters daughter just yet." I tried to say with the well known puppy eyes.

"Okay fine, but I will be checking in later to see that you have got into your dorm ok and that the roommate situation is alright." my father explained to me.

"Wait, what do you mean roommate situation?" I asked curiously.

Mum looked surprised but relieved at the same time and said "oh, nothing honey, we will be on our way" pushing my father to get my stuff out of the boot of the car.

I raised my eyebrow at them but decided to go no further on her previous statement.

•••

After getting my stuff out and onto the pathway without it being knocked over by the students scrambling to their dorms, I gave my final goodbye wave and made my way towards the main office.

Looking around, I never realised how large this place was. With large student houses dotted around campus, I noticed that the gardeners that my parents employ must really take their job seriously as I notice that the grass is cut so precisely, as well as the hedges are cut into various shapes and sizes - all looking beautiful.

10 minutes passed as I made my up the steps to the grand front office glass doors, already seeing the que of students awaiting their place to the front of the line. I opened the doors and joined the end of the line.

Let the waiting game begin.

After about 20 minutes, I finally got to the front of the queue, leaving myself and around 5 others left in the lobby, I walked up to the desk and greeted, looking at the fairly young woman's name badge seeing the name Stacy, and looked at her appearance. She had short chocolate brown hair which was shaped into a stylish bob which was pencil straight, along with her white blouse and black pencil skirt.

"Hello young lady, how can I help you?" She said politely.

"Hiya, um, I'm here to find my dorm room?" I asked her being the slightly nervous person that I am around people that I don't know.

"Ah yes, what is your name please"

"Chloe Hill"

"Mhhmm" she mumbled whilst tapping away at her keyboard.

"Here you are Chloe," she handed me a map of the campus, which had my dorm room circled - room 475, my room keys and a my lecture timetable.

"Your room is circled on the map, and here is your lecture timetable. You are welcome to come back here if you are lost or have any enquiries." She finished with a pearly smile.

"Thank you.." Glancing down to see her name badge "Stacy."

"No problem" she replied.

Turning around, I made my way towards dorm room 475, hoping that if I did have a roommate, she is actually a decent person unlike most of the people on this campus.

As I made my way back down the stairs of the entrance of the main office and straight into a hard chest.

"Watch where you are going" the person grunted, as I heard sniggers in the background. Looking up I saw the most gorgeous boy I think I have ever seen. With light brown hair shaved into a fashionable cut being short at the bottom and longer length at the top, with a small quiff at the front. His blue eyes pierced into mine as I tried to look away from the ocean that had me in a trance, but I simply couldn't. His lean body was shown off by his skinny jeans and white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a few buttons undone at the top.

"Maybe if you weren't standing there, then I wouldn't be in your way" I replied with a fake smile.

"Ooh feisty." He said with a smirk. I can definitely tell he is a cocky jerk already and I don't even know him!

All I could do is roll my eyes and walk.

As I carried on walking in the direction I was initially going, I heard him should "See you later blondie!" Ugh, what an egotistical Jerk!
