The next evening I walk by Xavier. "How has your stay been so far?" I think back to last night.

"Fine." I say simply. Charles looks at me. I can tell he doesn't completely believe me.

"What about the people?" I shrug.

"They're nice. The people I've talked to at least." Charles nods.

"I believe you've heard of the X-Men?" I nod.

"Those of you that protect people?" Charles nods. "What about them?"

"I was wondering if you were interested I'm joining." I blink a couple times.

"Really? Why?" Charles doesn't say anything for a minute.

"You were meant as a weapon for humans. Show them you're better than that and protect people." I think for a moment.

"Alright, I will." Charles smiles and we walk into the gym to see Scott and Logan fighting.

"Cyclops!" Charles yells. Logan spins around to look at me and Charles, looking pissed. He walks over to us, his claws out. I instantly activate an invisible shield over Xavier just in case. I can see Scott ready to fight Logan if needed.

"I have a question for you, Chuck. What's the point?" Logan asks. Charles looks at him, calm.

"The point of what?"

"This. This whole God damn thing. Making yourselves into some sort of, team, of super-powered freaks. Teaching wayward mutants about classical literature. For what?" I hated  to admit it but he had a point. I didn't see the point. Then again, my whole life I was taught one thing. Kill those who get in your way. Logan continues to walk to Charles and Scott starts to move toward us but Charles waves him off.

"I have a shield on him." I tell him, telepathically. Scott nods.

"The point is to step into a more evolved position of social responsibility. To recognize that there is a world out there and that we mutants are as much a part of it as normal human beings." Charles explains.

"What if it never happens? What if they're so afraid of us that we become the enemy? -- This place is gonna be one giant cemetery." Logan says.

"That's Magneto talking." Magneto. All I know is that he isn't exactly a friend of the others.

"No. That's me talking. And you know what? It's only been thirty-two hours and you still have no idea what this guy wants with me." Logan says.

"I believe he wants you for your adamantium." I don't even try to hide my suprise. The only reason I knew it even exsisted was because it was in me. Logan's hand goes to his neck.

"You're thinking of your dog tag. It was made out of adamantium wasn't it?" Charles asks.

"Professer." me and Logan turn to see Jean.

"What is it?" Charles asks.

"Rouge's missing." Uh-oh.

Me, Logan, Storm, Scott, and Jean follow Charles down a long, dark subterranean corridor with gleaming walls and floor. It's all well lit and strangely echoless. We all keep walking to a thick steel door at the end of the hall.

"Where are we going?" Logan asks.

"To find Rouge." Charles answers.

"How?" Logan asks.

"The brainwaves of mutants are quite different than those of the average human being." Charles explains. At Charles's eye level is a black screen with a chin-rest like I've seen a million times while the doctors at the facility I was at checked my changing eye color. Charles rests his head in it and the screen lights up. "Cerebro amplifies my power. It allows me to browse the world's consciousness and find the genetically enhanced." A vertical beam scans across his eye and a picture of Charles retina appears on the screen next to a computerized image of the same. The two images overlap and match perfectly. "This is how I found both of you." Charles gestures to both me and Logan. I feel Logan's glance on me. A small beep and a loud noise of tumblers Rolling and the vault door opens. We All walk in.
