"Who exactly is he?" A deep voice asks as its owner observes a man sleeping on the living room couch.

Mark yelps at the unexpected question. He temporarily halts his washing of the dishes to focus on the man standing directly behind him. Just because Mark has gotten used to this man's presence over the years doesn't mean that he can't get caught by surprise every once in a while. This man happens to be Darkiplier, Mark's well-known darker self. Dark is the embodiment of Mark's darker emotions: lust, anger, etc. He shares Mark's body structure, facial features, and floofy hair, but has dark red eyes and teeth that remind Mark of a vampire if anything. Oh, and there's the fact that Dark's a demon who can bend shadows and darkness as he pleases, using them for fast-travel among other things.

"Tyler? He's my best friend. I've known him for ages." Mark smiles as he returns to the dishes.

"Why is he here?" Dark asks, not once taking his eyes off the sleeping male.

"He's gonna be staying here for a while until he finds a place of his own. I would've told you, but I knew you wouldn't care. Besides, it's not like you'll be seeing much of him. You rarely leave the basement as it is." Mark replies, not bothering to look back at the demon in his kitchen.

Dark grunts in response, leaving Mark to his dishes as he wanders into the darkness of the living room. He finds himself standing directly in front of the couch, staring down at Tyler. He's surprised Tyler managed to get comfortable enough to fall asleep, seeing as the taller man's legs are hanging over the edge of the couch. Dark can barely make out soft snores coming from the man resting below him, noticing how one arm is dangling off the side of the couch while the other is hiding behind the mop of brown curls that appear to be Tyler's hair. The longer he observes this sleeping male, the more confused he becomes. Without thinking, Dark reaches a hand down to lightly pet the brown locks. Tyler groans as his eyes slowly begin to open, and he swears he hears something similar to a gust of wind as he stares into the empty room. Yawning, he slowly rises from the couch to check on Mark in the kitchen.

"Morning, sleepyhead." Mark teases as he finishes up the dishes.

"Oh, shut up. I wasn't out for that long." Tyler retorts as he approaches his friend by the sink.

"Yeah, right. You were out for an hour!" Mark laughs as Tyler playfully punches his arm.

"Thanks again for letting me stay here, Mark. I'll try not to be too long." Tyler says, running his fingers through his hair.

"It's no problem. Anything for my best bud! Take as long as you need." Mark replies, flashing his friend a genuine smile.

Tyler smiles back at him, thankful that Mark was willing to give him a hand. Mark yawns, stretching his arms as he stares at the nearby clock.

"Well, I dunno about you but it's getting pretty late. I'm gonna go hit the hay." Mark announces as he heads to the stairs.

"Sounds like a plan." Tyler replies.

"You took an hour-long nap. What are you gonna do, stare at a wall?"

"I see nothing wrong with that."

"You're weird."

"I'd take that more seriously if it was coming from anyone else."

"Fuck you."

The two friends share a laugh as they head upstairs, Mark to his room and Tyler to the spare bedroom. Tyler entered the room, shut the door, and laid himself down on the more-comfortable-than-the-couch bed as he stared at the ceiling. After a while, he drifted off to sleep. Unbeknownst to him, he was not alone.
