I Promise

Chapter 21

We all sat down as my mom starts asking me questions

“Where we you? Did you do things that you shouldn’t have done? How did you get money?”

I looked at my mom surprised at the questions

“Mom I was only a town over and no I didn’t do anything bad. Let me tell you what happened that day I left.”

“While I kept telling you I didn’t want to get married I decided to leave so I had someone drive me a town away. When we arrived I paid the man to say he never saw me. Well as I thought before people stared at me especially since I was wearing my wedding dress and carrying luggage. I went to eat and I notice I forgot the rest of the money at home. So then I decided to play the violin so people could of give some money. After five minutes of playing a nice older lady said I was playing well but my posture was bad. She looked over me and then said you ran away am I right. I nodded and then she offered me a place to stay so nothing bad could happened to me. I told her my name she said nice to meet you Aurora I’m claire Lexington. so I got in her carriage as her driver started driving to her house. When we arrived her driver took my luggage and took them inside I followed Mrs. Lexington inside as I say many pictures of her family and of her children. I followed her to her living room and saw she had a beautiful piano and on top a violin.

She told me that I would help with some house work and she would teach me the violin and piano. thats when her daughter came in at first she didn’t liked me since I was a stranger who her mother took in. I talked to her and Claire about my problem they listened without judging me then Eleanor asked how I felt about Matthew. several months passed I help with housework since all Mrs.Lexington had was a driver and her daughter would come and clean for her. I meet Eleanor’s child who was a baby. I would take care of baby Elizabeth. one day Eleanor told me I would make a wonderful mother and wife. That’s when I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Matthew.”

My mom looked at me surprised when I mentioned house work.

“So I decided to come back a week before my deadline was over so here I am”

“wait deadline” my dad asked raising his eyebrow

“Well I promised Matthew that if in two years if I matured myself and got better with my violin and piano skills I would come back and if he wasn’t married by that time I would marry him”

“Well you better keep your promise he never married or went out with a girl because of you.”

“I know dad I saw him yesterday well he didn’t recognized me since I was in a plain dress and in a bun until I played the violin and told he that it was me”

“What are you going to do now Aurora”

“ I’m going to talk to his parents”
