chapter 01;
“Unhand me you foul man!” the young woman tried to pull her wrist out of the man’s clutch. “Get your filthy commoner fingers of off me!” another attempt to break free earned her a deep chuckle that send a shiver down her spine.
A harsh tug on her wrist send her falling backwards and into the body of her assailant. The first thing she noticed was the rotten stench of death that clung to him and made her gag. The second was that he stood as firm as a brick wall despite his slender stature.
And the last thing, that she noticed –and failed to notice before hand- were his eyes that gleamed an eerie reddish green under the shadow of his hood. He was several centimetres taller than her 1m64 and was towering over her in an intimidating fashion.
“if you do not let go of me I will scream.” She calmly told him, the quiver in her voice however made it all too clear that the poor woman was terrified. And when he did nothing, she opened her mouth took a deep breath and right before she could utter any sound, a hand covered her mouth.
“shut your bone box woman” he growled. His head lowered towards her hair and he took a deep breath. She could feel the grin against the top of her head and her heart sunk. What could she do?
“Miss Blackwood, you know the rules.” The old teacher was pointing towards the trash bin in the corner of the room. One of the students – a brown haired, lavender eyed young woman stood up with a paper cup in her hand and sighed loudly. Grumbling all the way, she deposited the cup into the bin and walked back towards her seat in the middle of the classroom next to her ginger friend.
The teacher continued with his occasional glances of distaste while he continued talking about mathematical equations and how to solve them.
The girl slumped in her seat and put her head in between her crossed arms intending to take a small nap. Education was not that important for her, she didn’t have to go to university and get a degree nor did she have to work. Her parents were loaded, they provided her with all the things she’d ever need.
If it wasn’t for the fact that she was forced to attend by the law, then she probably would have stopped attending classes long ago. Now don’t get this wrong. It wasn’t that she was dumb, stupid or had trouble learning au contraire. She was quite clever, not a genius but smart enough to pass without doing anything. Ok she was definitely lacking in some classes like maths and science. It were languages that she absolutely adored.
“—and don’t forget to make exercise 4 to 7e by Monday.” His words were barely heard over the ruckus of the students that were rushing out of the classroom. The Blackwood girl was one of the first students out despite her seat being right in the middle and surrounded by everyone else.
Perhaps this whole thing is a bit abstract at the moment, you get thrown into two different settings at the same time and are required to just accept it and go with the flow.
But let me tell you, that girl, is the reason why everything went wrong with my life, she messed everything up and I too was just expected to accept it.
But let me introduce myself. Let me introduce myself in the same way as I introduced myself to everyone else.
“This is the economics class right?” the stern old woman that normally only showed her face in the administration area stepped inside the darkened classroom. The concentration –that was barely there- was immediately broken at the sight of Mrs O’connor. The teacher nodded twice before turning his tired eyes back towards the screen of his computer.
“He was supposed to arrive earlier but as you can see. Late on his first day.” She scoffed but motioned behind her and beckoned someone.
The blackwood girl’s head perked up when she noticed the new comer. In stepped a teenaged boy, and the first thing she noticed were his peculiar green eyes. They were dull and mossy rather than bright and emerald as was always portrayed in the novels she loved to read. It was a rather welcoming sight. The next thing she noticed were his clothes.
