When Alice had shown Pippin and Auntie Mabel round the front of the factory, she led them over to a big machine over in one corner of the room. Pippin stared up at it curiously and Mabel peered in to see what was inside, but pulled her head back out of it when she discovered it was very breezy inside.
"Well," Mabel said in disbelief.
"Ah yes, it's very windy in there," Alice explained. "I wouldn't advise going in there."
"Yeah," Mabel agreed, feeling slightly dumbfounded. "That's true."
Pippin woofed in agreement and the three carried on to the next machine.
"So, this is where air is actually produced," Alice told them. "Why not have a look? I haven't been down here for a while you see, as I usually work higher up in the factory on the top floor, but as our usual tour guide is off work today I have been notified to be your leader. Anyway, as I was saying, I can't exactly remember, but I think this is where they dye the air to make it different colours. That's how smoke is created you see - all the fire safety stuff you probably learnt in primary
school is all lies - smoke is actually air that has been dyed grey." Alice smiled at the duo knowingly and winked.
"Anyway," she continued, "why not have a look inside? As I said I can't remember exactly what's in there but it should be safe enough for you to poke your head in and have a lo-"
Alice unfortunately couldn't continue as Mabel had unwisely put her head into the funnel of the machine and was getting sucked in by a second, stronger gust of wind.
"PIPPINNNNN!!! SAVE YOUR INNOCENT MOTHER FROM THIS HUMAN-EATING ROBOTIC DEVIIIICCCEEEE!!!!"
But it was too late. Mabel was travelling down the funnel at full speed (90,000mph to be exact) and there was no way poor helpless Pippin could save her petrified owner now.
