"Goodbye Piper I'll see you in a week. Call Wanida if you need something or anything is wrong alright." With that, the door is swiftly shut and my mom is on her way to Spain. No 'I love you' or 'I'll call you when I land.' There's never any of that. Wanida is more of a mother to me than her.
Wanida is our maid, she comes here every other day to clean. She's been working for my mom since before I was born so I consider her family or a second mom. Whenever I need a friend Wanida is there to get me through it, but she can't always come over since she has a family of her own. Her little boy Juan is 5 and her baby girl Ada has just turned 2 last Thursday. Her husband died in a horrific accident 2 weeks after Ada was born, Wanida never did tell me what happened, but I'm sure it was pretty tragic. I mentioned him once and she burst into tears. She's a very strong woman so when that happened it surprised me greatly.
I turn the lock on the door securing the house. I make myself a cup of tea and head to the living room to watch t.v. The lights are off when I enter the large vacant room, keeping them off I extend my leg over the back of the couch and pull myself over to sit. I decide to watch whatever comes on which happens to be the Comedy channel. I get comfortable in my seat and rest my head, laughing every so often when something funny happens.
Vibrating from my phone distracts me from the show. I pick up the small device and see a name flash across the screen; Daddy.
"Hi dad." I set my mug down and bring my knees to my chest.
"Hi baby girl how are you?" I miss hearing his voice everyday.
"I'm alright. Mom left to Spain for another one her fashion shows this morning. How are you?"
"I'm doing good. Do you want to come to my place? I could pick you up in an hour if you don't want to be by yourself for however long." I chuckle quietly at how excited he sounds. I haven't seen him in about a month.
"Yes please. If you don't mind." I switch the tv off and pick up my mug bringing it to the kitchen.
"Of course! I'll be there in an hour so get your shit packed and ready to go. No diddling around Pipe!" There's a clink from my mug being dropped in the stainless steal sink but it doesn't faze me. My dad is so excited to see me and I can't wait to see him.
"Alright well I'll let you go then so you can drive. Be safe daddy, I'll see you in a bit. Love you!" He says his goodbyes also and a faint beep disconnects us.
I rush upstairs and grab my new Gucci suitcase that I just recently purchased online. Quickly stuffing everything I need in the suitcase, I finish in no time. He should be here in about forty-five minutes. What the hell am I going to do in that time?
I pull up the handy luggage handle and start to wheel the suitcase out of my room, flicking off the lights on my way out. Loud 'clunks' fill the quiet house as I wheel the luggage down the stairs behind me. Probably not the best decision I have ever made because it starts to move faster and soon it clips my feet sending me down the stairs and it following suit. Luckily there were only about 8 stairs left so it didn't hurt as much as it could have.
I set the luggage near the front door and make my way back to the kitchen settling on one of the bar stools. I pull out my phone and see I have 34 new messages. Scrolling through the wave of texts I find most of them are from Veronica catching me up on the latest gossip about Ryan dating a non-popular girl Yasmin. I really could care less about what the hell Ryan does.
I spend the rest of my time scrolling through Twitter and Facebook when I hear; "Hello! Anybody home!"
I shut off my phone and sprint to the door.
"Daddy!" I run at him and he nearly falls back from the force of impact. I hug him tight and he kisses my forehead.
"Hey Pipe." He hugs me tighter and I feel tears start to form in my eyes.
