"FUCK!"

Searing pain shot through my leg. My boss, Howard, sniggered at me from his desk.

Coffee dripped down my leg onto the floor. Staining my heels with a mouldy brown texture.

He moved towards me and stood behind me just far enough away that I can't legally pepper spray him but enough that I could feel his breath on my neck.

"You should get that dress cleaned up before someone sees you... or... you know, you could just take it off right here... I wouldn't mind..." he moved closer to me.

I waited until he touched me before I spun around and slapped him with enough force that I heard his jaw crack. He fell backwards onto his ass and began howling in pain.

The noises rewarded me with my coworkers looking over their cubicles to see the commotion. Once they saw what happened, they began to smirk at me. Howard was, in short, a perverted misogynistic asshole.

I've been working for this company since my 19th birthday 7 years ago. And ever since I started, Howard has been, and I quote, "trying to get a piece of my ass".

I heard a shriek from the other side of the room when a portly older woman with greying hair waddled across towards Howard. It was Sandra, she had the hots for Howard but she was a bit... ripe... for Howard's taste. Howard moaned and I wasn't sure if it was from the pain or the fact that his stalker had found him yet again.
"Howard are you okay?!" She glared at me with the hatred of a thousand angry old women. "Keira! How dare you hurt him! That's it! I've warned you too many times before this. I'm calling the police!" I watched in amusement as she cuddled next to Howard and whispered into his ear that he was going to be okay while calling the police. She put the call on loudspeaker in the hope that she would intimidate me. It probably would've worked if a robotic voice didn't say "the emergency service line is busy. Please try again later."

The office went silent as the message repeated, everyone listening to the voice in curiosity, confusion and distress.
My coworker Mike was the first to break the everlasting silence.
"Why is it busy? It's the police. It can't be busy."
I turned to him with dread growing inside me.
"I don't think it's just the poli-"
We heard the sound of rubber harshly screeching against concrete and then a crash. Everyone in the office surged towards the window in a sense of urgency I've never seen before. Outside of the office looked like it had always been, bright and colourful but was strangely devoid of life. The source of the crash was a bright orange Ferrari that would've looked amazing had it not been crumpled around a lamppost.

Four people appeared from an alleyway and ran towards to the crash. They began beating on the glass trying to save the driver from the mangled vehicle. Finally, the glass shattered and the driver was pulled from the wreck. One of the men instantly began to give the driver mouth to mouth... and another put his mouth on the man's leg... okay? That's weird. The other men proceeded to put their mouths onto each of his arms and looked as if they were sucking on his skin. I looked away, not wanting to see some creepy sexual fantasy unfurl. I started to walk away from the window when I heard the blood-curdling scream. I span like a ballerina and accidentally whipped one of my coworkers with my hair. I watched as they ignored the brown strands of hair stuck on their face as they stared out of the window. I turned to the window and saw a scene from a nightmare. The driver had woken up and was screaming as the four men pulled their faces away revealing red strands of muscle and tissue. The entire office went into different levels of panic, some screamed while others stood and watched in horror. I've seen enough zombie movies to know that this is an outbreak. I thought about what I would do next, I will stand on the desk and deliver a kick-ass speech to the office who will then, in turn, follow me. We will be a zombie survival community! I stood on the desk and whistled to get everyone's attention. With all eyes locked on me, I realised I hadn't actually thought of a speech.
"Um... hi?"
All my coworkers continued glaring into my soul as I stood on the desk.
"So... zombies. In case you haven't guessed that is technically what they are, so like. Stop screaming otherwise they'll come up here and nom us all"
The screaming became louder after I finished the speech. Why couldn't they just listen to me? I glanced back out of the window and saw what would surely haunt my nightmares for years to come. The dead stalked towards the office building in a frenzy, more and more appearing out of windows, alleys and some seeming to teleport out of nowhere. I backed away from the window and unceremoniously fell backwards onto a desk. I thought back to my childhood when I first found out about zombie culture. I remember thinking about how cool it would be for zombies to exist. I began shaking uncontrollably. Mike put his hand on my shoulder to calm me but I brushed him off. I wasn't scared, oh no. I was ecstatic. Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I thought about the possible outcomes of this situation. In almost all of them, I got out of the office safely and met the man of my dreams on a zombie-infested highway to hell. I ran towards the elevator in such a haste that I crashed into mike but I didn't care. I was going to survive this thing! I ran into the elevator and pressed the button for the lobby. I jumped in excitement and squealed at the thought of turning a zombies head to a pulp. After I landed my victory jump the elevator stopped moving.
"Shit"
The elevator began moving down again and I sighed in relief. It was only after a couple of seconds that I felt the elevator speeding up towards the ground floor. I screamed as I was lifted into the air and was slammed down into the floor of the elevator.

Hey again, sorry if this is short but I got excited and felt the need to type a chapter on this story. I have different people telling me that I should edit this story and some saying I don't need to do if I could have your input that would be AWESOME.
