Chapter 11

"He showed me something that was related to your father's death. With that, we can show it to the police and report him. He's not just a loan shark, he's a murderer. Your mom didn't die because she was sick. Si hyuk had something to do with it as well as yo na's death. He's been watching you guys since he moved here. You're his next target." She said.

"What are you talking about??" I ask, totally confused, "if that is true, why would he tell you?"

"Because--" before she could say another word, we heard the sound of a shot gun and Jiyeon fell to her knees.

I bend down and put my hands on her shoulder.

I look over her and saw blood coming out her back. I look at the men that shot her and they aim the gun at me. As they shoot, I quickly pull jiyeon and me over to the side and blocked the bullet.

"Let's get you to the hospital." I said.

"Yoongi, whatever you do, don't get near si hyuk.. I don't want you to die. Neither does your family." She said.

"Why? What did he tell you?" I ask.

At that moment, I heard the police car sirens. Someone must've called the police when they heard the shotgun. The men started to run away .

"Your mom.. was a witness.. she died because she witness si hyuk killing someone.. that is why he is targeting all of your family because he's scared your mom could've told you guys about it." She said.

Tears start to fill my eyes. That is not true.. how can it be true? My mom died because of an illness.

"No.. she died because she was sick." I said, denying what she said.

"This is the police. Put your hands in the air."

"We need to get her to the hospital." I said.

The police came over to check and then called an ambulance.

As we wait for the ambulance, the police officers, help carry jiyeon out of the cave with me following them.

I thought back to what jiyeon said. If that is true, then, yo na's death was because of him..? Now that I think about it, he was the one who came up to me about the money issue at the hospital .. what if he had been watching us? What if he really did do all those? What if my mom's death wasn't because of the sickness?

"I'll be right back. I have to go do something." I said and quickly ran back to si hyuk's office.

I kicked the door open and walked over to si hyuk who was sitting at his desk, drinking soju.

"You're back?" He ask.

"What did you tell jiyeon?" I ask.

"Ji yeon? Ah, the girl from earlier? " he said, "didn't she tell you? I'm sure she did. Isn't that why you're back here?"

"Did you really kill my mother?" I ask.

He let out a laugh and said, "well, what if I did?"

Anger started to rise in my as I clenched my fist.

"If she didn't want to die, she shouldn't have been there that day." He said.

"So, it is true." I said.

I grab his collar and threw a punch across his face.

As he fell of his chair, I walk over to his side and grab his collar, making him stand up, and threw another punch.

"A person like you should be in jail! I'm going to make that happen." I said.

"Oh really? And how are you going to do that?" He ask, "there's no evidence that I've done it."

"If I can't put you in jail, I'll be the one in jail after killing you." I said.

"Really? You're gonna waste 15 years of your life in jail just for me? I don't know what to say, I'm touched."

As I was about to threw another punch, he said, " Don't you want me to tell you what really happened before you kill me?"

"It's true that I'm a murder but your mom was no different." he continued, " You see, your mom and I dated. We were in a gang together. We drank, smoke, beat up people, and other stuff. One day, your mom was being harassed by some guy. That was the only reason why I was a murder. to save her, I killed that perverted man. But you know what your mom did? She ran away, saying that she didn't want to be part of a gang anymore, she didn't want to be with me anymore because I was a murder."

He scoff and then continued, " I saved her life and she said she didn't want to be with a murderer like me. Later on, I found out she's dating your dad. After they got married and have you and your sister, your dad found out about your mom and my past relationship. He was disappointed with your mom and so he became an alcoholic."

"That's not true... My mom isn't like that." I said, denying everything he just said.

"If it's not true, why did you think your dad became an alcoholic?" He ask.

I stayed quiet, not sure what to do. It was too much to take in.

"Is--Is that why you killed them?" I ask.

"I don't know.. did I?" He ask, which triggered me.

I grab his collar again and yelled, "Tell me!!"

"And if I did? What are you going to do?" He ask.

"I'll kill you. I'm not scared of going to jail. My life right now is worse than jail. The only way I can finally send off my family is getting rid of you."
