-Everlys pov-

"Just chocolate in a small cup please." I said to the ice cream lady. Me and Bella decided that we needed some time apart, so I left and came to get ice cream. Isn't that what every girl does when she's upset?

I stepped to the next window and waited patiently for my ice cream. Luckily the ice cream place isn't busy today like usual.

I really don't want to go home. On top of everything that's happened, I really don't need to be beaten.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a very familiar voice. "Everly??" She squealed.
"Oh hey Serenity!" I love Serenity.

She quickly ran up to me and pulled me into a bear hug. "Hey what are you doing here? I thought you were with Bella."

"Yea I was suppose to be." I sighed. "We got into a fight."

She let out a gasp and pushed some hair out of her face. "What?! You and Bella never fight, what happened?"

"A lot." I sighed. Should I tell her about Dylan? I know I can trust Serenity. She's the only one I the group that can actually keep a secret from the rest of us.

"Wanna talk over ice cream?" She asked. I nodded my head and pulled my phone out of my back pocket to put it on vibrate.

-----

"And so yea basically that's what happened" I sighed.
She sat there in silence, clearly surprised at the fact that me and Dylan like each other.

She quickly shook her head. "Wow...just, wow." She said in shock.
"You and Dylan? I could never see it, but now... I don't know what to think. You like him back right?"

"Hmmm lemme think. Of course I like him back! That's kind of the entire problem!" I snapped, making her jump a little, and turning some heads our way before settling back down.

"Tell him." She said. Yeah, cause it's so easy to tell your best friends brother that you like him and you know he likes you back.

"It's not that easy." I said.

"Why isn't it?"

"Because it was the fact that he likes me that started this entire thing. Think of how complicated it would be if we dated. Me and Bella might not even be friends if that happened."

"Why not? She's not mad because you like him. She's not mad at all. She's upset because you didn't tell her Everly."

I thought about what Serenity had said for a minute. She's right. Bella would never get mad at me because of my feelings, but the fact we're best friends and I like her brother and didn't tell her is whys she's upset. I would be too. Ugh, I messed this up bad. All because I'm so paranoid and have trust issues.

"You're right." I admitted. "But what am I supposed to do now?"

"Talk to her." She said.

I nodded my head and got up from my seat, throwing my cup away and pushing the door open so I could leave. I waved my hand bye to Serenity. "Bye Serenity!" I said.

"Bye! Text me later!" She said, standing up from her seat and waving bye.

I nodded my head and stumbled out the door. I grabbed my keys out of my purse and unlocked my car, hopping in the drivers seat and starting the engine.

-----

I walked up the front porch steps and put my fist up to the door to knock, when I hesitated. Should I be doing this? We both have sides of the story, I understand hers, maybe she needs time to understand mine. No, I'm in the wrong, I need to apologize and talk to her. I lifted my hand back up to the door and knocked this time.

My breath got hitched in my throat when Alli Parker answered the door with a huge smile on her face. The smile still plastered on her face, she greeted me. "Omg hey Everly!" she really just said omg, not oh my gosh, she said omg, like the letters.

I blinked my eyelids shut for a second, hoping this was a dream. But of course she was still there when I opened them.

"Oh hey Alli. What are you doing here?"

"Me and Bella have a project to do together."

I nodded my head and after that it was probably the most awkward silence I've ever been in. She stood there staring at me, and I did the same, what am I suppose to say?

"Oh sorry come in." she said laughing, snapping out of some kind of trans.

I began to walk in and one foot was in the house before she put her arm out so I couldn't Get any farther. I stopped and looked at her in confusion.

"How's everything at home? With you know... Brady?" she asked. Out of everything I need to talk to Bella about, I really don't want to talk to Alli about my brother right now.

I flashed her a smile with no teeth. "Better. Thanks for asking." I lied. Its not better. Just because I haven't seen him doesn't mean it's better. I still have to go home tonight.

"Good. Call or text me if you ever need anything." she soothed. I don't need anything from you, I thought. Why am I so against her now? Its not her fault. Well, it is, but she didn't know she was causing anybody any harm.

Instead of saying what I felt I just nodded politely and walked the rest of the way inside.  I made my way down the hall and got stopped once again by Dylan coming out of the bathroom in front of me. God, can I please just get to Bella?

He shut the door and looked at me. He flashed a smile. "Hey everly."

"Oh hey Dylan. Is Bella home?" I don't want anymore distractions. I need to talk to Bella, and by standing here looking at Alli and Dylan together in the same room, I just want to cry.

"Oh um yea. She's on the back patio." he said.

"Thanks." I said, and walked past him towards the patio.

"Yeah um... Hey everly!" he shouted down the hall at me.

I turned my head and looked at him, his hair perfectly covering his forehead just as always.

"I um... I had fun... Today. Playing volleyball." he muttered.

Butterflies immediately arose in my stomach and my breath got short. What's this boy doing to me?

I blushed and my cheeks got red from not knowing how to react. "Yeah. Me too." I smiled and walked out to the patio to see Bella sitting there gluing something onto a poster board.

Her head lifted up and immediately went back down. "Why are you here? You just went home 2 hours ago." she snapped calmly.

"I'm sorry. I just really need to talk to you about earlier."

"There's nothing to talk about." she said, standing up to my height and crossing her arms. "You don't trust me and I'm just fine with that."  she said.

"But I do trust you Bella!" I argued. "The reason I wouldn't talk to you is because I wasnt willing to admit to myself that I like Dylan. I wasn't able to get it through my head because you're my best friend and I knew what would happen. I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry. I just... I didn't even know if I liked him or not and when you said it at the nail salon it just all clicked in my head and I just got scared and exploded on you. I'm sorry." I expressed. Wow, I really just said all that.

Her eyes began to become teary and she uncrossed her arms and came in for a hug. "I'm sorry ev. I shouldn't have gotten mad at you in the first place." she sorrowed, she shouldn't be sorry.

I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and closed my eyes, trying not to just break down. "It's okay. You didn't do anything." I said.
