"You are sure that this is going to happen?" The two wolves looked down from the northern lights.
"Yes." responded the other.
"And there is nothing we can do?"
"Unfortunately, that is true. Let us just hope that our chosen wolves can accomplish such a feat." Then the two wolves turned and raced along the glowing path of the northern lights back to the heavens.

The dark brown male walked into the clearing. In his mouth were two pups. His pups. Lifeless pups.
He gently set the two bodies down and gave them a gentle lick. He chose a spot in the ground and began digging.
He stepped back and surveyed his work. He figured that it was deep enough and he reached for the pups. He set them in the hole separately. Then he pushed the dirt back over.
The large male turned and walked away. He never looked back.
He took on look at the stars before crouching into the den.
The silvery female looked up at him and gave his cheek an affectionate lick.
"SilverSky, are you ok? Is everything alright? Do you need anything."
She nudged her nose into his fur. "I'm fine, Mudpelt."
SilverSky nuzzled the two tiny warm bodies by her side. One black. one grey.
"Any names come to mind?" MudPelt asked.
"Yes. Mist." she nuzzled the little grey pup. Then she turned to the unusually small pup with the fur as black as night. "And Shadow"
