"Come on!" I called. My brother was lagging behind and I wanted to get outside as soon as possible. "Mist!"
"Ok, ok. I'm coming!" He grumbled, flicking his grey tail back and forth.
"Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on!" I bounced up and down. We were finally two months old and I wanted to see the sun, the moon, the sky.
"Hold your squirrels!" he growled.
Eventually he reached my side and my mum stepped from the den entrance.
I burst out into the sunlight. I gasped and took in the scene around me. The green trees that mum had told me about so much. The grass, the sky, the clouds.
I sat back on my rump and felt the breeze ruffle through my fur. I sniffed the fresh air and felt the sun warm my fur.
I bounced up. "Mummy! Mummy! Mummy!"
SilverSky laughed and looked down at me. "Yes, Shadow?"
"When do we get our new names?"
"Later." she assured me. "Now come with me, you two."
Mist and I padded after our mum.
She smiled at a brown female. "GoldEyes! How are you?"
The brown female smiled. "I'm fine. My little one's over there playing with the others that are about to be named."
I looked over to where she had motioned. I saw a group of pups playing. I raced over there, wanting to play so badly.
I wasn't watching where I was going.
BAM!!
I sat up and blinked. A red female about my age looked as bewildered as I did. She was larger than me, but then again, everyone was.
We looked at each other and then both burst into giggles.
"I'm Shadow." I managed to get out.
"Crimson."
I smiled and raced over to the largest rock in my sight. "Come on!" I yelled over my shoulder.
I scrambled onto the rock and smiled down at her proudly. I raised my head to the sky. "I win!"
I felt a force push me off the rock and Crimson had pinned me to the ground. "I don't think so!" she teased.
"Let me up!" I growled playfully.
She got off and raised her head proudly.
