I sighed and shook my head as I carefully cooked the pancakes I was making for the others. Mabel was back in her room, sleeping, though I know it wouldn't take her long to wake up. I smiled and placed a few pancakes on a plate for her, then started the second batch of pancakes for the others. I sighed and brought the plate over to the table and quickly called Mabel down.
"Come on, guys! Breakfast is ready!" I called and went back to the stove.
"You're really loud in your own head, you know," Bill said, yawning as he appeared beside me. I shook my head at him.
"Thanks, Bill," I said and took the last two plates to the table. I smiled as Stan, Ford, and Mabel walked into the dining room. I smiled and sat down with them, chuckling as Ford laughed and told jokes.
"Hey, Dipper?" Stan asked, looking at me. I looked up at him.
"Yeah?" I asked. I had never noticed that he had forgotten his hat before. Then it hit me in the head. Bill was holding Stan's hat, smiling and chuckling. I shook my head.
"What were you and Mabel doing up so late last night?" Stan asked, before taking another bite of his food. I looked down at my hands and sighed.
"We were talking. About the fight we had," I said, lying a little. Ford looked at me and I looked away, before getting up.
"How about after breakfast, we all take a quiet walk and do a bit of bird watching? Take a day off from working today," I said, trying to change the subject. Mabel nodded, and I looked at Stan and Ford. Ford nodded and quickly finished eating.
"I believe you are right, Dipper. We could all use a little time away from the Shack," he said, looking at Stan. I smiled as Stan nodded and finished. I smiled and spotted Mabel walking to the second floor. I followed her and found her in the bathroom, getting ready to take a shower.
"Don't take too long, okay Mabel?" I asked, looking at her. She nodded and shut the door. I walked to my room and quickly grabbed my backpack, carefully putting my journals inside, along with Journal 3, one of Ford's journals. I smiled at it and sighed as I remembered that summer.
"Don't do too much remembering, PineTree. Remember me?" Bill said, chuckling. I sighed and shook my head at him.
"Why don't you shut up, Bill?" I asked him, walking over to my closet. Bill sighed and I heard him laugh.
"Come on. You know me. I can't shut up," he said. I nodded a little and looked at him.
"I can see that Cipher," I told him and walked back over to my bed. Bill followed and carefully sat on my bed.
"You know that Ford can still see me right? Why do you think he was so quick to agree with you about that walk?" Bill asked, smiling at me. I growled and sighed.
"You agreed to stay in my head, and not bother my family or friends!" I said, starting to get mad at the triangular 'Meat Dorito'. Bill chuckled.
"And trust me, PineTree. I'm not messing with them. I'm still stuck with you unless you let me out. Ford just knows that I'm still here and wants to know why. Maybe I can help him understand," Bill said nicely, making me cool down.
"So you..."
"Dipper," Ford cut me off as he walked in. I looked at him and then back at Bill.
"Let me guess. He told you that I knew he was still here, right?" Ford asked, looking at Bill. I nodded and sighed.
"Yeah.
"COME ON YOU GUYS! I REALLY WANT TO TALK THAT WALK!" Mabel called, making me and Ford jump. I sighed and grabbed my backpack.
"Oh, and PineTree! Trust me, I won't cause you any pain on this walk," Bill said, before disappearing. I nodded and followed Ford downstairs, smiling as I found Mabel in her old Shooting Star sweater. I grabbed my hat and pulled it on as we stepped outside. Stan smiled at me and my twin sister, before chuckling as his twin walked over.
"Hey, I'm still sorry about that ending to the summer back then," Stan said, Ford, shaking his head.
"It's only because I hadn't said thank you sooner," he said.
"They still act like twins," Mabel said, smiling. I nodded and laughed as Mabel poked me.
"Hey!" I said and poked her back before we started to walk with Stan and Ford following behind us.
"We should ask Grenda and Candy to join us on a camping trip out here in the forest," Mabel said, smiling as she looked around. I nodded and looked at the others.
"Hey. Is it okay if I look around a little bit? I need to look for something," I said. Ford and Stan nodded and I started to head off. I came to a small part of the forest. Colored by patches of sunlight, was the statue of Bill. I sighed and sat down in front of it.
"I still remember making that stupid deal with Stan. It was a pain. Heh, maybe my last remark was what kept me around?" I heard Bill say, before looking off to the side. Bill walked over and sat next to me, sighing as he looked at his statue.
"Never make a deal with me Dipper. Just make one that has a good outcome for you and me if you do, okay?" he asked, looking at me with one golden eye. I nodded and smiled a bit, before pulling out Journal 3.
"Can you believe it? Ford was so easy to trick at first. I wish he had never wisened up to my plan. But it was for the better, I guess," Bill said, sighing again. I nodded and opened the journal to the page about Bill.
"You are really evil back then," I said. Bill nodded and sighed, as though he remembered something.
"I kinda miss her," he whispered and I looked at him. I was confused about what he meant.
"What do you mean? Who do you miss?" I asked. Bill looked up and sighed again.
"My sister."
