"Hey there." I smile up at the young boy, who can only be a couple years older than me, as he sits up, clearly frightened. "It's okay, you're okay here." I try calming him, and he seems to relax, until Killian enters the room.

"Ahoy there, aren't you lucky to be alive." He grins, and I can tell it's meant to be playful, but to others, I could see it appearing menacing.

"Lucky? I'm a prisoner of pirates in a land cursed with magic." He retaliates, trying to hide his fear with anger.

"Well, most children think they've found paradise when they lay their eyes on Neverland's magic. Why else leave home in the first place?" With his question, Killian's eyes find mine, realizing exactly what he implied, though at this point, it doesn't cause me as much pain as it once did.

"I came so a family I loved could live."

"Well, aren't you quite the hero?" Killian nears him, trying to intimidate the kid.

"What would you know about that? Pirate." I can't help but smile, the boy before me having a similar stubbornness to him that I did when I first met Killian.

"A pirate saved your scrawny bones from the curse of the mermaids."

"A pirate killed my mother and tore apart my family." Killian and Smee share a look, one that does not go unnoticed by me.

"What about your father?"

"He left me, he's a coward." The boy spits, hatred seeping in his voice.

"What's your name, boy?" Killian questions, eyes skittering to me as I stare up at him, knowing that this appears to be the son of the man he intends to kill.

"I don't have to answer you."

"Oh, but I can make you." Killian nears him, his face hard and cold.

"Kil, that's enough." I scowl at the man before me, feeling more like a parent than the youngest person present.

"But to prove to you that not all pirates are as you fear, I'll simply ask again. What's your name?"

"Baelfire."

"Welcome aboard, Baelfire. It's a pirate's life for you."

Voices pull me from my slumber, my head pounding the second I open my eyes. I immediately shut my eyes once again, easing the pain ever so slightly, as I remain completely still. As I fully awake, I'm able to make out the voices, and I realize that I've been brought to Emma's apartment.

"Stop! I already lost my dad. I don't want to lose anybody else. We have to work together." Henry shouts, and I assume he's yelling at his two mothers.

"From the mouth of babes, I'd say the lad has a point." Killian's voice makes my heart race, my body reacting on its own accord. I hear a sound that I can't quite identify, and I crack open an eye to see Killian holding his jaw.

"That was for the last time we met." David growls, and I can't help but smile slightly as I go back to pretending to be asleep.

"Bloody hell." Killian groans at the same time a gun cocks, David's gun.

"Tell us why you're here before I use something other than my first. For her." I realize that he's speaking about me, and it makes my heart swell. Emma basically being my sister has led to Snow and Charming becoming parent-like figures to me, giving me a family I had only ever dreamt about.
