-Tommy’s P.O.V-
You know that you’re in deep trouble when you’re getting seriously bad vibes from you half psycho boss, across the room. To make matters worse, he had a gun; a loaded one too. Jonathon Amoretti was a dangerous man, and I knew that all too well. Working under his guidance for five years had taught you never to mess with the big man, but today the game had changed.
Every task that I had completed, the instructions were handed down by a caller. They were always unknown, usually different than the last and especially: they didn’t know where the information came from. Only two people in the entire organization had ever set eyes on the mastermind behind the whole operation, Amoretti himself and his right hand man, whose identity also remained unknown. It was a rule put in place so that if tortured, any of the employees could never reveal their boss’s name.
But today, by an incredibly wild twist of fate it seemed, I had the honour of meeting the said boss. He was considerably older than me, around the forties from physical appearance. His hair was a dark, plain brown that waved atop his head, and his face was devoid of any emotion – except anger which seemed oddly constant – and his stern, cold eyes watched me like a vulture as I froze in fear.
Beside him were two heavily built bodyguards that showed no emotion to the prospect taking place before them, they stood like two protective boulders in adjacent corners of the room. The room itself was simple, with no furniture decorating the vast space, and the walls were made of cold, hard metal. It gave the space a chillingly cold temperature, fitting to the scene it seemed.
Being strapped to a heavy metal chair was also part of the deal apparently, and my hands were bound to the backing with tight ropes, which were proving to be exceedingly uncomfortable the more time that elapsed.
“Thomas Vicetti, what a pleasure it is to finally meet the man that has caused so much trouble to me,” Amoretti himself spoke, and his voice had adopted that scarily calm tone that sent chills down my spine. This did not bode well for me.
“The pleasure is all mine sir,” I choked out, unsure whether it was my place to speak. If I articulated one wrong word, that loaded gun would have a say in my future.
Amoretti smiled a grim smile and cocked his head, inspecting me. I had cleaned up since my departure from the Sergio pack’s underground cell, but water could not wash away the horrors that I had witnessed and the nightmares to surely come.
“I have been told that you have struck up a-” he searched for the right word for a moment, “deal that concerns this organization working hand in hand with a pack of mindless scientific mutants, who we are sworn to eradicate from the face of the earth?”
I cringed. When he put it like that, my decision seemed insane relative to when it appeared highly beneficial to both parties involved. I couldn’t muster up the words to reply, so instead I simply nodded and avoided the gaze of those piercing, cold blue eyes.
He huffed and took a step closer, the gun entrapping my gaze with its deadly silver tint.
“You see, I dislike when my underlings speak for me. I much prefer to do things my way, and none other. Now, I want in your words what this little deal entails, and don’t try lying or so help me God,” he cast his gaze upwards for a moment, then settled back on my terrified features “I will cut off each of your fingers until you comply.”
I gulped and nodded, gathering the nerve to speak. If it was one thing that rendered me speechless and terrified me to the core, it was Amoretti. He was known for much worse that cutting off fingers, oh so much worse.
“The Alpha Sergio’s son proposed that we work together for a common goal sir,” my voice came out in nervous clumps, the words stringing quickly together. “He said that we could help each other catch the rogue, so long as we refrained from harming the Sergio pack.”
