Mae, Casey and Gregg were outside Possum Springs town limit doing a crime. Trespassing to be specific. The old Adams house was recently abandoned when Jake Adams had died a week ago. Although Mae protested going into a house where someone had died the two others persuaded her into going inside. The interior of the house was beginning to rot and the furniture was still there. Mae was beginning to believe this was a bad idea. "Mae stop being a scardey cat. Its just an old house!" Gregg teased her. "I'm not scared, eff off!" Mae defended and she heard Casey chuckle.

"Mae, you look out back, we'll check inside okay?" Casey asked, pitying his younger look-a-like. "Okay" Mae was more than happy to get out of the house. Her young mind was fueled by her grandfather's ghost stories so she was eager to do anything else. As she looked around the back yard there was the remnants of the family having a dog, yet as she looked around there wasn't one in sight. Mae relaxed and smiled, she had never liked dogs really, they kinda scared her. As long as they were on a leash or weren't violent she was fine however.

As Mae walked around she saw some movement inside of the dog house. She assumed it was a raccoon or possum seeing as she didn't think anyone would abandon a dog. Mae kneeled down a good foot away from the dog house and her eyes widened. The sight making her fur stand on end. There it sat, a skinny- too skinny- Doberman. And it looked everything but friendly. Mae desperately looked for any sign it was chained but it obviously wasn't. The Doberman crouched, snarling at her and looking at her as if she were its next meal. As Mae turned to run it sprang, catching her by her ear and ripping part of it off. Mae grabbed a shovel and whacked it hard, sending it running into the bushes.

Mae panted as adrenaline coursed through her veins and eventually relaxed, turning to walk inside so the dog didn't come back. She felt liquid drip down her face and touched it. She pulled back her hand expecting saliva from the dog but it instead was blood. A lot of it. Mae ran inside to her friends, her vision darkening. "CASEY..! Gregg..!" She called out, swaying out of dizziness. She heard quick footsteps right before she collapsed.

"Mae!!" Two voices called.

She drifted in and out of conciousness for a couple hours, hearing little pieces of conversations.

"Will she be okay? I just want.."

"I really wish she'd wake.."

"it's all my fault.."

"I never want.. to happen"

Slowly Mae woke up, she was in her bed, she saw Casey, Bea, Gregg and Angus on the ground playing cards. "Hey guys... miss me?" She smiled and asked. "Bea got up and hugged her "You scare me like that again and I'll kill you." After many reunion hugs and friendly threats she unwraped her ear wincing slightly in pain. "Duuuude. That looks badass." Gregg said and Casey nodded. Mae looked in the mirror and frowned slightly "I don't like it."

"I think it suits you Mae." Casey smiled and said "Thanks Case." She smiled.

'Maybe I can live with this after all.'
