Velaynia's legs trembled as she walked beside Prince Evexxas. The guards walked a few yards ahead, their burgandy armor glimmering even in the dull light of the hall.
The steel cuffs around her wrists bit into her flesh as one of the guards tugged her along using the long chain attached to the links.
She glanced over at the prince. He was grinning, happy to be walking her to her execution. He seemed to enjoy seeing her in her tattered gown that was covered in all types of filth. Glad to see how terrified she was, how close she was to death. He didn't care if she had stopped him from dying no longer than a week ago.
He glanced over at her, still smiling and she lowered her eyes to her feet.
"You're probably wondering why all this is happening," He said, walking with his head held high. "You're probably thinking that you're innocent and don't deserve to be executed."
She didn't respond. There was no point saying anything. She would be dead soon. They weren't too far from the cage now.
"You don't have to speak," He sighed. "You're going to die, so what's the point? I can't say that it'll upset me at all. It actually brings me quite a big amount of joy. It's always a pleasure to watch your kind die."
The guards finally came to a stop up ahead, and the two of them stopped as well.
Prince Evexxas turned to her. "Your kind have no witts. You were defeated in the war against my father's kingdom and that'll happen every time. You were lucky that the rest of you have been spared. But they'll all die eventually. I'll personally see to that."
"Why do you hate us so much?" Velaynia finally blurted, her voice trembling with sadness.
He looked at her as if it was the dumbest question he'd ever heard. "Why?" He snapped. "Why? As long as your kind is alive, this kingdom is still cursed. The Maysayas will do nothing for this kingdom but drag it down into the dirt with your kind. The sooner you all are killed off, the better."
He looked straight ahead at the closed doors that lead out to the cage. "I know that you all have been planning a rebellion. But you're too weak to win. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time to kill you pointed eared freaks."
"I don't know why I wasted my time saving your life." Velaynia snapped.
He struck her hard across her face and she doubled over. The guards glanced back at the prince. Not for him striking her, but to hear that she had saved his life.
She straightened up and glared at him.
"Yes, you shouldn't have," Prince Evexxas growled in a low voice, so the guards wouldn't hear. "The day you healed me, I've became cursed. I'd rather have died then to be saved by the likes of you. You and your dark magic. Now you'll die for it."
He turned and stormed pass the two guards. He pushed the doors open and the sound of the kings voice filled the hall as he gave his speech. The prince disappeared around the corner.
The guards didn't bother to close the doors. But she couldn't see anything from where she stood. Just light illuminating the hall that had just been so dim. But she was still able to catch the king's speech.
"... We have been very generous to the Maysayas. And this is how we are being rewarded. To have one of your kind send a Wyvern after my son?"
(Wyvern-Dragon like creature that can breathe other things besides fire.)
Velaynia's stomach tightened and her legs felt even more weak. Not only were they executing her when she was innocent. But they were also making up false stories.
