Day One
"I've only been here one night mum, so no, I haven't met any 'cute' boys." I rolled my eyes at my mothers excitement that maybe a boy would catch my eye. Heaven knows my mother thought that I might be gay, she kept waiting for me to bring a boy home, I never do.
"That's still plenty of time Ady, I met your father the night I moved to Arizona with my parents."
"It was love at first sight, yadi yadi yada." I finished the story for her, desperate to change the topic. "How's Pete?" I asked instead, wondering how my pet turtle was doing without me.
"He's fine sweetie, I checked on him this morning." I sighed rolling onto my side, teetering on the edge of my bed. One move and I would fall.
"If Pete is dead-" I started saying but my mother cut me off this time.
"I raised you for 17 years and I never forgot to feed and water you, I can handle a turtle for a week."
"I've gotta go, aunt Fray is calling for me." I said not knowing what else to say to my mother, what could I say?"
"Okay sweetie, don't stay cooped up inside all week. Go see your old friends, I'm sure Mason would love to see you again."
"Ya, sure mum. Gotta go, bye." I quickly hung up closing my eyes.
"Adylan, breakfast is ready!" This time, aunt Fray really was calling for me.
The woods used to be my favorite place when I was a child. I would spend hours out in these exact trees, I wouldn't come home till it was dark out, it would always worry my parents to death.
Looking at the trees now, I would give anything to have cable, even just a tv and a DVD player would be heaven. Aunt and uncle Fray were a bit old fashioned, it wouldn't have surprised me if they didn't have electricity and used candles at night.
I was still thanking whoever was upstairs for that small miracle, I don't think I could survive the week I was stuck here without electricity. My phone would have been toast.
A twig snapped to my left and I jumped surprised to find myself not alone in the woods. Should I be scared?
I found dark green eyes watching me, the guy was crouched down to the ground using a thick tree to support his height and weight. His blonde hair was a wild mess, like he ran his hands through it too many times to make it lay nicely anymore.
And I recognized the guy, it was the guy from yesterday. The one who called me Dandelion.
