A small sigh escaped Tuesday's lips as she walked back to Jennete.
She stood there by the cashier's counter, smirking lightly. "Ah, I believe you still have an hour more for working as a waitress, my dear, dear, Tuesday," said Jennete with a triumphat look on her face, "I'll just make myself comfortable here, behind the counter..."
"Shut up." Tuesday snarled.
Just then, a boy walked in, looking around and sitting down at a table in the back.
Tuesday sighed, put on a fake smile and moved over to the boy.
"Hi." She greeted. "May I take your order?"
The boy looked up at her: Tuesday thought that he looked cute, with his dirty blonde hair and green-ish eyes.
Oh, and it gave him plus points as he smiled a genuine smile at Tuesday.
"Aye," He said with a sweet smile. Tuesday noted his accent: Not British. It was Australian.
He stated his order and Tuesday walked back to the Kitchen, repeating the blonde's order.
The order came in a few minutes, and Tuesday brought it over back to the boy.
"Thanks." He said, taking a small bite in to his chocolate chipc cookie.
"You know," Tuesday said, cocking her head to one side. "You're vaugely familiar."
The blonde smiled. "My name's Cody and I'm from Queensland. Does it ring a bell, mate?"
Tuesday chuckled lightly. "Sorry, must've mistaken you for someone else. Have a nice day then, Cody."
"Hey, wait!" Cody caught Tuesday's wrist as she started to walk away. He was grinning mischeviously. "I told you my name, how 'bout you tell me your's? You're a beautiful girl, after all..."
Tuesday blushed lightly. "Er, Tuesday. My name's Tuesday."
"Tuesday as in the day?" Cody asked innocently.
Tuesday rolled her her eyes. "That question. Do you know how many times I've been asked that question in that tone?"
Cody laughed.
"Well, I'm sorry for offending you whatsoever."
"No offense taken."
"So, you're here often?" Asked Cody, trying to sound innocent.
"I work here." Tuesday replied, trying hard not to laugh.
"Er, yeah." Cody said awkwardly, causing Tuesday to let out a small laugh.
"Would you mind letting go of my wrist, though?" Tuesday asked.
Cody smiled and let go.
"I'll go get your bill, then."
Tuesday walked up to Jennete, who let out a low whistle.
"You've got the hots for somebody." The blonde girl said with a smirk.
"Give me his bill and keep quiet."
Jennete sighed and handed Tuesday the boy's bill.
Tuesday walked over to Cody's table, his bill in her hand.
"Here you go, Cody." Tuesday said with a small smile.
Cody nodded and gave Tuesday a small "Thank you" as Tuesday went to get another person's order.
When she came back, Cody was gone. The bill was on his table, a twenty dollar tip left for her.
A corner of Tuesday's lip twitched upward as she picked up the bill and put the tip in to her pocket. The brunette moved over back to Jennete and handed her Cody's payment, getting ready to change shifts with her.
"Hey, Tuesday." Jennete started to smirk. "I guess this wasn't for me."
She held up a piece of paper that had something scribbled on it in neat handwriting. It had a number written on it, and underneath:
Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy- but here's my number, so call me maybe? xx Cody
Tuesday blushed furiously as Jennete laughed.
"It's not a total loss." Jennete said, laughing a bit more. "He wasn't ugly. Kinda handsome."
"Oh, shut it." Tuesday mumbled, putting the piece of paper in her pocket. Maybe she would call him later, if she had the time.
And she had all the time in the world, so she was definetly calling Cody later.
[...]
"Hi," Cody's voice replied through the phone.
Tuesday took a gulp and said: "Hi, er, Cody. It's Tuesday."
"Tuesday!" Cody said, his smile heard from his voice. "Hey! How are you? Wait, better yet- is your shift over?"
"Yeah." Tuesday said with a laugh. "It just ended, why?"
"Would you mind staying there in front of Starbucks for a few minutes?"
"Um, yeah." Tuesday said.
"Great!" Cody's excited voice said from the other end of the line. "Wait."
Tuesday sat down on a bench. It was getting dark. She sent Mitchell a text message saying that she'd be home late and that she should just take some food from the loose board in their wardrobe.
Mitchell texted back asking why, whereas Tuesday replied that she didn't know.
Just then, a red car drove up next to the bench Tuesday was sitting on.
A boy with blonde hair popped his head out of the car window, smiling widely.
"Hey!" Cody greeted. "You wanna go to the park with me?"
"The park?" Tuesday repeated with a laugh, standing up. "At this time of night?"
"It's early." Cody said with a chuckle. "Only about 7 o'clock in the evening. C'mon!"
Tuesday laughed again and slid in to the shotgun seat.
"You're crazy."
"I try my best." Cody said with a laugh.
Tuesday leaned back and stared out of the car window, watching as buildings passed by. A small smile came onto her lips.
The radio started to play a song that wasn't familiar to Tuesday. She cocked her head to one side and stared at Cody curiously, who was close to laughing.
Cody started humming along to the chorus as it played for an answer:
"Hey, I just met you. And this is crazy. But here's my numbder. So call me maybe?"
Tuesday laughed, Cody doing the same.
"I can't believe you ripped that off from a song!" She smiled, punching the blonde on his shoulder lightly.
"But you did call me!" Cody laughed. "So I guess it's a plus."
Tuesday blushed lightly but she laughed too.
"Yeah," She agreed. "Lucky I did call you, even though you're a complete stranger."
The corners of Cody's mouth twitched upward, as though he knew something Tuesday didn't. Tuesday didn't interfere anymore, but she felt the tiniest bit of suspicion as well.
